Situation Report # 5 The warming shelter located at the Council on Aging was closed at noon today. This information was sent out via social media as well WATD. There were no request for evacuations or use of the warming center. At 3pm the National Guard was released. During their time in Marshfield their personal and vehicles were utilized to rescue the occupants of 2 motor vehicles stranded in deep flooding during the height of the storm. Their assistance was greatly appreciated and their presence alone put many residents minds at ease. Knowing if the storm did take a drastic turn for the worse that we had the capability to get to residents in high risk areas immediately allowed many of us, (police, fire, DPW), to perform other vital functions during the storm. Although we have weathered the most severe period of high tides and winds we are not out of the woods! Tonights high tide poses another significant threat to the coastal sections. We will be blocking off the Brant Rock area from Dyke at Plymouth to Ocean at Saginaw beginning at 7:30pm. We will keep this area blocked until deemed safe. We implore the assistance of the public as we attempt to keep everyone safe and allow public safety and public works personal to protect and clear the area. Unfortunately people continue to be drawn to the most dangerous area in town during the most severe tides! Tomorrows forecast is for sunny skies and milder temperatures. This will lead many to think it is safe to go near the ocean. Unfortunately the danger will not be over until well into the afternoon on Saturday. Tomorrow mornings high tide is at 9am and there will continue to be splash over and flooding in the area of the Brant Rock.
