XINGHUA PRIMARY SCHOOL 45 HOUGANG AVENUE 1 SINGAPORE 538882 TEL: 62889121 FAX: 62838831 Xinghua Link ADM 190/16 3 May 2016 Message From The Vice Principal As we approach the end of Term 2, I would like to thank you for all your help, encouragement, support and interest. It has been a phenomenal term here in XHPS as our students participated in a wide array of activities and learning experiences. These included the P6 Overseas Learning Trip to Penang, the P5 Camp, the National School Games Competitions, the Sports Carnival and of course, the recent Singapore Youth Festival. There was always something for every child to experience, learn and enjoy. These opportunities have helped to deepen their learning and fostered new friendships. The smiles on the children’s faces are a testament of our combined efforts to make this term a meaningful one. Here, I would also like to put it down on record to thank all our teachers, staff, parents and coaches for believing in the children and investing your time to support and develop their interests. Thank you. The month of May usually indicates a higher level of anxiety for both students and parents as the students prepare to take the Semestral Assessment 1 (SA1). While assessment is an important aspect of learning, we should also understand that these tests are not the be-all-and-end-all. The SA1 is simply a milestone check of the students’ cognitive development at this stage in their learning journey. It is more important to inspire our students to love learning. I hope we will use this opportunity to affirm their efforts and continue to develop their diverse interests and needs. On behalf of the Principal and staff, I wish all of you a restful June holiday. Warmest Regards Shirley Quek (Mrs) Xinghua Link MAY 2016 SINGAPORE YOUTH FESTIVAL (SYF) The SYF is a fiesta for building character, strengthening bonds and honing skills.
