summers are back again with its bouquet of fun, and along with it the long awaited summer vacations too.
The temptations are great for you to spend hours watching T.V. or paying video games but with a little
ingenuity and planning the summers can be transformed into a time to stretch the mind , explore new
hobbies and learn new skills.
So while you enjoy a family outing or a month long fiesta with grandparents, aunts and cousins, here a
little work for the brain, food for your thoughts.
Happy vacations as you explore and research, indulge or invent. Whatever you do enjoy it to the fullest!
Some pointers to remember
 Holiday Homework is a part of subject enrichment and will be assessed on the basis of
creativity and efforts of the students.
 Enhance your speaking skills and vocabulary by conversing in English with your family and
friends and reading famous fictions.
 Update yourself with current events by reading newspaper and listening to the news daily.
 Schedule your time for activities so that there is no piling up for the last moment. Be
independent and honest in doing your work.
 Practice being a change by contributing to community by sharing your knowledge. Do try to
impart basic education to at least one person who has not experienced literacy.
 Homework is given according to roll numbers. You will find Hindi and Sanskrit homework
on the last page.

‘Khadi for Nation, Khadi for Fashion’
Khadi is not merely a piece of cloth but an entire stream thought.
Visit a khadi industry and make a pictorial presentation on the timeline showing journey of the
khadi fabric under the following heads.
 Step 1: Removal of seeds from cotton.
 Step 2: Pre spinning operations.
 Step 3: Spinning (Manual, Power spinning)
 Step 4: Weaving (Handloom weaving, Power loom weaving)
 Step 5: Chemical processing
 Step 6: Conversion of finished fabric into garments.
 Paste a small miniature of a finished khadi product industry.
Also highlight the problems faced by khadi institution in khadi production and alternatives to these
