We look forward to the 11th Annual William Threlkeld Scholarship. Entries
will be encouraged in June and July of 2017.

This past month, we awarded six $1,000 scholarships to deserving young
members who competed for the distinction. Hearty congratulations go to
Hannah, Daniel, Jaleen, Flossie, Andrew and Benjamin, and thanks to all
the students who entered.
IMPORTANT NEWS FROM NACHA
Get prepared for faster Automated
Clearing House transactions
The National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA) has adopted a new rule
that governs Same Day ACH. The idea is to allow consumers to move ACH transfers
more quickly.
■ Sept. 4 – Newspaper
Carrier Day
■ Sept. 5 – Be Late for
Something Day
■ Sept. 7 – Neither Rain Nor
Snow Day
■ Sept. 15 – Felt Hat Day
As of September 23, 2016, ACH transactions will post throughout the day. What this
means for you is, debit transactions will post after the close of business around 5:30
p.m. and then again the following morning. Transactions will continue to post to your
account by the settlement date.
■ The biggest impact will be the timing of transactions. Withdrawals (debits) could
post before deposits (credits) within the same business day. Note: There is no
regulation stating that credits must post before debits.
■ Direct deposit may start arriving on payroll date, not the evening before.
Employers will now be able to submit their direct deposit files to their financial
institution later, rather than 2 days early, which is usually the current practice.
■ Sept. 16 – Mayflower Day

■ Adjust bill payments and automatic payments to come out on or after payroll
posting day.
