Case Studies
Coaching
Jazz has been part of Football Futures for 3 ½ years and has attended many
leadership courses. Last year, Jazz was appointed as the Head Coach for Stoke
Gabriel Men’s First Team, the first female coach in the South West. When
Jazz Hervin appointed she said: "I was more excited than nervous about getting started to
be honest; I felt that when the men's role came up I was ready for it. I hope to pave the
way for others like me, I want to achieve my aims and goals and hopefully I can inspire
young female coaches along the same coaching path.”
Refereeing
“Football Futures has given me many opportunities to develop in
football. I have been able to expand my refereeing experience into
Futsal and because of Football Futures I am now part of the Select Connor Harris-Wooldridge
National Group of Referees and now the Devon FA Referee Academy Coordinator for
Plymouth. Football Futures also opened my eyes for what I wanted to do outside of football by undertaking a Sports Development course Plymouth Marjons University. Without
Football Futures I wouldn't have taken up these opportunities & be where I am today.”
Running the Game
Football Futures was introduced to me when I started University as I was coaching
in the area and this was an opportunity to log my hours and progress. Since then, I
Alice Cook have attended national BUCS Football Future conferences which were great chanc
es to meet like-minded students working in football and attend CPD workshops.
This knowledge and these experiences helped me to secure the position of Football Activator at my University which has opened even more doors for me, with the opportunity to lead and coordinate football
development programmes at my University!
Running Events
I joined the Devon FA Football Futures in Easter 2014 after going to the County Camp
at Paignton Academy. Becoming involved with the Football Futures has meant I have
Josh Ballard
become confident enough to volunteer, to support coaches in my club & referee the
younger teams at the Club. I have found the experience fulfilling, rewarding and most importantly enjoyable. I have also had the opportunity to work with the wonderful team at the Devon FA whose knowledge
and support have been invaluable in my progress and I look forward to furthering my opportunities with
Football Futures in 2015.
Cost
There is no sign up cost and the only cost to you is your volunteer time, which you may
already be giving but receiving no recognition for.
