Project TEN is an international tikkun olam program that operates volunteer centers in developing areas. We bring together young Jewish adults from all over the world, to a program that combines volunteer work with local communities and service-learning in the fields of international development, culture, identity, and Jewish activism. • Choose from one of our centers in Ghana, Mexico, Ethiopia, or Israel – with more locations to come • Actualize your ideals for activism and global tikkun olam (repairing the world) • Volunteer- Select from a range of volunteer projects in developing regions, aligned with your group’s interests in three main fields: - Education: English as a second language, basic computer skills, developing leadership skills, creating youth movements, utilizing sports as a means of education - Health: teaching nutrition and hygiene, teaching basic first-aid, de-worming, educating for dental health - Agriculture: creating sustainable and local agriculture, demonstration farms, environmental education in schools through communal school garden In Israel: work in platforms for Jewish-Arab co-existence • Learn- Customized educational curriculums involving experiential learning and engagement with local populations, focusing on issues that are paramount in your community, such as: Jewish engagement, leadership, and Jewish global activism. • Travel- Explore sites of local significance, and experience the beauty of exotic regions. • Make friends from around the globe: Project TEN includes both Israelis and volunteers from around the world. What is a tailor-made program? TEN Tailor-Made Project TEN offers a unique opportunity for groups to participate in short-term volunteer programs according to the specific interests and requirements of your organization. These comprehensive programs include all of the elements Project TEN has to offer, while tailoring them according to your needs. The group experiences will be facilitated by professional staff within each TEN center. Activities will be run in collaboration with long-term cohorts, as well as independently for your specific group. Participants will integrate with long-term volunteers in each center, meeting young Jewish adults from around the world to work together on sustainable projects in under-served communities. Why tailor made? For the past few years, TEN has been running successful volunteer centers in Ghana, Mexico, Ethiopia, and Israel, working in collaboration with local partners. Our experienced, professional staff on the ground facilitates the program’s range of sustainable projects in the fields of education, health, and agriculture. Project TEN tailor-made programs offer: Choice of location – Select from one of our 5 centers around the world Choice of dates – Centers operate throughout the entire year. Your group will be able to select a time-frame suitable for your needs. Choice of content – Customize your itinerary according to your group’s interests, in terms of volunteering, learning and travel opportunities. Following the trip, your participants will return home as globally connected young Jewish adults, having developed leadership skills and been inspired to become active members of their home communities. The price includes food and accommodation, staffing, local travel, volunteer project and learning sessions. Additional group charges may apply and vary according to length of program, type of volunteer project, extent of local travel, and other factors. Flights and insurance are not included. Who can join a tailor-made trip? Participants are young Jewish adults between the ages of 20-35. A typical tailormade program can accommodate 8-12 participants. Larger groups may be accommodated at certain periods throughout the year, depending on the center. (Contact us for further information). What is the duration of the trip? We offer tailor-made programs for 1-4 weeks, depending on the interests and requirements of your group. TEN Center Locations Project TEN currently operates five volunteer centers in: Gondar, Ethiopia; Winneba, Ghana; Oaxaca, Mexico; Kibbutz Harduf, Israel; Arad, Israel What will your trip look like? Planning Your Trip Pre - A representative from Project TEN will meet with the director of your group and work in collaboration to map the needs of your community or organization. Together you will build a comprehensive itinerary, creating a program tailored to suit your unique needs. This will include selection of a volunteer center, volunteer project, and other programmatic elements. Once a group of participants has been established, Project TEN will partner with you to run an orientation program, preparing participants for their volunteer experience. During - The group will arrive at the center and immediately be introduced to the center staff and long-term volunteers. You will meet with the local population, see volunteer projects in action, and gain a thorough understanding of local needs. Your trip will include hands-on volunteer work within these communities, travel to sites of interest, and Jewish learning sessions together with other Jewish young adults from around the world. Post - Participants will return to their home communities with a new vitality and interest in Jewish leadership. As a group, participants will be encouraged to prepare a presentation for their community, recounting their experiences with Project TEN. Project TEN cultivates young Jewish leaders who return home as actively engaged members of their local communities. Project TEN will be happy to assist with post-programming for participants from your community. This may include structured alumni activities throughout the year, continued engagement in volunteer projects and centers, and opportunities for follow-up trips to any one of our TEN Centers around the world.
