The Formal Conversation
When to use the formal conversation?
1. When speaking to a person much older than yourself.
2. When speaking to a teacher, doctor, or other professional.
3. When meeting someone under formal circumstances, such as
at a college you are applying to or at a formal dinner, etc.
4. When you want to be extra polite or when you aren’t sure which
to use -- formal or casual.
Then when to use the casual conversation?
When speaking to your peers -- kids about your age, or younger.
Read the following conversation through once and then underline the phrases
and words which you have not used yet. Say them to yourself a couple times
each before role-playing the conversation.
