Charge of the Committee
In December 2015, Mayor Michael B. Hancock announced a bold and ambitious goal of reducing our
community-wide greenhouse gas emissions 80% by the year 2050 (80x50). In that statement, he committed the
City to host a stakeholder process to identify needed transformational strategies to reach that goal. Through a
lengthy and deliberate process, Denver identified individuals with varied expertise, innovative tendencies, and a
commitment to developing an achievable 80x50 plan for Denver by creating a comprehensive list of strategies.
The stationary committee has been charged with creating an initial list of building, energy efficiency, and
renewable energy strategies to help meet the 80x50 goals.
