Spotlight Featured Fundraiser Brianna Brodt The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation is delighted to recognize Brianna Brodt “Cancer can be a heartbreaking disease, but it is good for demonstrating extraordinary fundraising efforts for the MMRF Team for Cures 5K Walk/Run Program. The MMRF hopes that this spotlight feature will motivate and assist other participants with new fundraising methods so one day we can reach our ultimate goal, finding a cure. This year will be Brianna Brodt’s first time participating in the MMRF Team for Cures to know that none of 5K Walk/Run Program. She is running in honor of her father, Darwin Brodt, who was us have to go through numerous chemotherapy treatments, two stem cell transplants, and two clinical trials. this battle alone.” — Brianna Brodt diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2009. Since his diagnosis he has participated in Throughout Brodt’s journey his cancer has relapsed three times. He has been so brave and has fought so hard over the past 6 years that Brianna wanted to do something to help him in his fight. She chose the MMRF Team for Cures because she has a passion for running and loves that these races specifically target Multiple Myeloma. Brianna says, “The MMRF has done an amazing job of raising awareness and raising money for research; it is something I was eager to be part of.” Most of Brianna’s fundraising has been done through the use of social media. Facebook and Instagram were particularly helpful in getting the word out. Many people shared her fundraising link well beyond her scope of friends. Additionally, Marc Boriosi from The Levity Ball was kind enough to raise further awareness through his article “Steve Aoki Helps in Teacher’s Cancer Fight,” an article highlighting Steve Aoki’s generous donation of $100 to the team, “Brodt’s Battalion.” Brianna is beyond excited to be participating in the MMRF Team for Cures: New York City 5K and is overwhelmed by the support she has received thus far.
