ARTS Arts Round The Shire 2017

arts
arts round the shire
2017
Bass Coast Shire Council acknowledges that
we are situated on the traditional lands of the
Boonwurrung / Bunurong, of the Kulin Nation.
We offer our respect to their elders past and
present and, through them, all Aboriginal
and Torres Strait Islander people.
Bass Coast is home to a thriving arts community.
The beauty of its natural environment, and the
close proximity to Melbourne, attracts the
creative spirit.
It is also one of Victoria’s most popular tourist
destinations due to the beautiful coastline,
scenic hinterland and laid back life style.

Bass Coast Your Art Collection prize 2016
Ursula Theinert won first prize at the Bass Coast
Your Art Collection Exhibition with Acrylic and
Charcoal on canvas 'Windy Day'. This artwork is
now part of Council’s art collection. Ursula says:
“My fascination with trees relates to the
mythological traditions of the ‘World Tree’,
which is a contact between the mundane
and the divine….the forms of striving branches,
contorted forms of struggle and mystical groves…
“Humans are not separate from nature and
this understanding will help us accept and
understand the need to work for a sustainable
future and face the challenges of change.”
