Let’s go round again: Further reinforcement of KS2 Science
Curriculum, continued from terms 1, 2 & 3.
The order of operations.
Literacy links: Whole-class and group reading,
text marking and discussion, use of modern
language, exploration of the structure of the
poem (rhyme pattern, etc.), improvised drama,
writing in role of character (empathy), creation
of own myth / investigation of Arthurian
legends.
Check understanding of Evolution, Adaptation and Inheritance.
Measure: Reading scales, converting units of
measure and solving problems.
Use Topic to check understanding of material, etc. (e.g.
castles, armour, etc.).
Mean, median, mode and range
Volume - and recap of area and perimeter.
Use previous SAT papers to identify any remaining ’gaps’.
Time—reading 24 hour clock and solving problems.
We will continue to follow the progress of the British Astronaut
Tim Peake on the International Space Station (ISS).
Algebra—with heavy focus on inverse operations
This will be supplemented with cross curricula
writing and SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation &
Grammar) work.
Circles—labelling parts.
Translation of shapes.
We will continue to practise calculating (both mental
and written strategies) during our morning sessions.
Art and Design:
Topic: The Lady of Shalott
Castles (design & construction of, etc.)
Geography: Location of castles (strategic
significance), including use of and importance of
raw materials. Possible ‘real’ location of Arthurian
sites (link to Literacy week).
Potraits (The Lady of Shalott, etc.)
History: Investigate the historical context of the
Medieval Period / Middle Ages, focusing in
particular on the code of chivalry, plus King Arthur
and the Knights of the Round Table, Consider the
concept of Feudalism (link to the importance of
‘British Values’).
