Thanks to everyone who’s been involved in our Krasman Centre Photovoice
Project. We are happy to announce that we’ve received quite a bit of material and we are working diligently to put it together for an exhibit in the New
Year.
We will be previewing some of the material at Canadian Mental Health Association’s National Conference, Thriving in 2010 and Beyond, hosted in
London, Ontario.
If you still have photos and journals that you have yet to submit, please
make sure to return them to us as soon as possible. If you haven’t received
a camera or information on this project, please contact Wendy or Tanya for
more information.
Pranayama Breathing Group
We are excited to announce that we will be holding
an introduction to Pranayama breathing exercises on
Monday, September 27th from 1pm to 2pm.
This introductory group will deal with learning traditional breathing techniques. In our respiration process, we breathe in or inhale oxygen into our body,
going through our body systems in a form of energy to
charge our different body parts. Then we exhale carbon dioxide and take away all toxic wastes from our
body. Through the practice of Pranayama, the balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide is attained. Absorbing prana through
breath control links our body, mind, and spirit.
Our Mission
The Krasman Centre works
collaboratively with Consumer/Survivors and Families to
improve lives through information, networking, self-help,
mutual support, and partnership.

Natural Health Tips
Summer is here; enjoy the heat and fresh air while it lasts till winter. I,
for one, am enjoying eating outside and am paying attention on foods
that would help me feel light by enjoying the fresh air, smelling the wonderful scent of flowers and sitting under the bright green trees.
Green is the color of life, the green in plants comes from chlorophyll,
Chlorophyll is the pigment that gives plants their green color and also
mediates photosynthesis, what else has chlorophyll? green vegetables
are full of chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is highly good for us, it is known for
its cleansing, anti –inflammatory and rejuvenating properties.
Most of us know that the key to good health is a well- balanced diet that includes plenty of fruit and vegetables which
are all packed with nutrients. They are rich in vitamin C, beta-carotene, riboflavin, and other essential vitamins. Recommended daily servings: three or more is better.
This summer take control, get lean fast with changes to your diet providing the essential nutrients that your body
needs, it can be achieved with a little thought and planning. Eating can be one of the greatest pleasures in life; food is
eaten not just for health but also for taste. So take your time to enjoy fresh, locally grown meals in a calm and relaxing environment for instance outside with friends and family.
Tip of the month: Buying locally helps support local markets also it can be cheaper. :)
Green beans with olives
15 ml/ vegetable stock
1 lb French green beans sliced in half lengthways
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
6 medium locally grown tomatoes, coarsely chopped
15 pitted olives
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
Salt and ground black pepper
1 medium red onion, finely sliced
Heat the oil in a large frying pan add the onion and garlic and cook for about 4-5 minutes until softened add the
chopped tomatoes, stock, beans , olives and lemon juice and cook over a gentle heat for a further 20 minutes , stir
from time to time until the sauce is thickened and the beans are tender. Season with salt and pepper to taste and
serve and enjoy!
Health and laughter forever and a day!

Serve with assorted raw vegetables (peppers, cucumber or carrot) or crackers or with
warm pita bread topped with fresh tomato. I enjoyed spooning some into a lettuce
leaf and eating as a wrap.
