BOARDING LIFE
at ACS Cobham
Welcome to our world
ACS Cobham’s Boarding House is Europe’s premier school residency offering the prestigious
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, US College Board Advanced Placement (AP) courses,
and the AP International and Capstone Diplomas. Located at the heart of a magnificent 128-acre
Surrey campus, and only 30 minutes from one of the world’s great capitals, London, our secure
separate wing accommodation is a ‘home away from home’ to 110 boys and girls aged 12 to 18.
Success through teamwork
As part of an increasingly mobile world, the ACS
Boarding House has established itself as a genuine
champion of internationalism, with students
representing more than 30 countries. We are proud of
our multicultural identity, and celebrate the things that
make us different as an integral part of boarding life.
The Head of Boarding, Mark Venn-Dunn, and our
resident House Parents, identify and promote each
student’s learning skills, monitor and guide academic
progress, and deal promptly and sympathetically with
any personal situation that may arise. All our students
feel respected as individuals, and our expert staff
actively support their personal, social, and educational
development into responsible global citizens. Our
team is strengthened by resident teacher/advisors,
the Boarding Nurse, a School Counsellor, and our
student Peer Group.
Outstanding facilities
The Boarding House combines excellent
modern facilities with a family-style atmosphere
in two separate wings which are connected by a
spacious reception.

All study bedrooms accommodate two students, and
each room has a private bathroom. Top floor rooms
incorporate split-level bedrooms allowing students
their own private areas. Furnishings are to a very high
standard and include wall-to-wall carpeting, built-in
wardrobes (closets), desks, lamps, bookcases, beds and
bedside units. There is WiFi throughout. Each wing has
its own spacious lounge with large screen television
and DVD player, laundry facilities, and kitchenette.
Main meals are taken in the school’s stunning new
dining hall located next to the Boarding House.
Boarders are free to use an extensive range of
on-campus sports facilities, including 6 tennis courts,
soccer and rugby fields, an all-weather running track,
6-hole golf course, and a state-of-the-art Sports
Centre with 25-metre competition class swimming
pool, fitness suite with weight-training, dance and
aerobics studio.

Personal development
We recognise teamwork and leadership skills are

Working with specialist companies, our highly
interactive programme includes team building
workshops, a ‘Leaders of Tomorrow’ programme (in
partnership with a Colchester school), Junior and Senior
leadership conferences, as well as opportunities to
become a member of the Student Council, a House
Captain, and even Dorm President.
Our academic programme
With over 35 years’ experience delivering outstanding
IB and AP exam results, ACS Cobham graduates secure
places at many of the finest universities around the
world, including Oxford, Cambridge, the London
School of Economics, Imperial, Harvard, Yale, MIT,
Stanford, Delft, Keio and McGill.
While we are proud of the high academic standards
achieved by our graduates, our educational
philosophy has always been to promote the ‘whole’
student. Our programme is designed to support
a developmental, student-centred approach, with
provision of additional English Language tuition
according to individual learning needs.
