WHAT?

This is a lacrosse learning league. There are no tryouts. GLAX utilizes area high school lacrosse players to instruct middle
schoolers in the sport of lacrosse. There is an “On Site Adult Coach” present at every practice to insure that practices are
running smoothly and that proper technique and rules are being taught.


Participants must be in 6 , 7 or 8 grade. Per FHSAA rules, players must NOT have played in a Jr. Varsity or Varsity level
high school season game.

You need soccer type cleats (preferred) or running shoes for every practice and game.

Come prepared to run and play hard in appropriate clothing. Any child not dressed in appropriate clothing and footwear will be
sidelined for safety reasons.

You need a mouth guard for every practice and game, any color but white or clear. Do not purchase the type with the
attachment tab. Mouth guards can be purchased at Target or Walmart for $1 or any sporting goods store for $5 - $15.

Boys are strongly advised to wear support cups.

Gear will be provided for practices and games. For girls – sticks and goggles. For boys – sticks, helmets, gloves, chest
pads and elbow pads. However, we have a limited amount of gear that circulates through the practices so purchasing your
own gear is recommended. LABEL IT!!!

Bring a water bottle. Water is provided but using your own bottle greatly reduces the spread of germs.

You do NOT have to purchase US Lacrosse insurance. We provide insurance to you at no charge.
COST: The cost is $125 payable by cash or check to GLAX. Any child on free or reduced lunch is eligible to receive a reduced fee of
$60 if a copy of your free/reduced lunch status is included with your registration. Each paying participant will receive a
TH
reversible practice/game pinnie to keep. Complete the attached waiver and mail with payment to: GLAX, 4316 SW 80
Street, Gainesville, FL 32608 or remit to the “On-Site Adult Coach” on your first day of practice. Should your child decide they
do not want to play, refunds (less $15) will be made if notice is given by April 21st. No refunds will be made after that time
except for extenuating circumstances (such as injury), and then in a prorated amount. There is a $25 charge for NSF checks.
PARENTS:

Children must be picked up promptly at 6:00 (5:30 for Oak View). We can’t leave the school until all children have been
picked up. If you are repeatedly late in picking up your child, your child will be excused from the program. In the event of rain,
we can practice in drizzle. We cannot practice in downpours and lightning. If practice is cancelled before school is let out, we
will have the school make an announcement to the kids and put a notice on our website at www.glaxfl.com. If practice is
cancelled during practice because the weather turns bad, your child will call you to come pick them up. Our coaching staff and
“On-Site Adult” will move the children to a covered location at your school and wait for you.

Practices and games cancelled due to weather will not be made up due to time constraints.

Please provide a snack for your child to eat before practice. They are starving after school.
