Citizenship Documentation

Arizona Residency & U.S. Citizenship
Proposition 300, passed by voters in November 2006, stipulates that persons who are
not citizens or legal residents be charged out-of-state tuition and that they are not
eligible for any type of financial assistance using state monies.
In compliance with this law, Yavapai College will require all students to provide
documentation regarding their legal status. Acceptable documents include Arizona
driver’s license or identification card issued since 1996, birth certificate, passport and
official immigration papers. See below for a complete list of documents; students can
provide one primary document or *two secondary documents, as shown. Students will
have the option of presenting acceptable documentation to Enrollment Services staff
(preferred method) or by scanning documentation to [email protected].
(Additional requirements must also be met when establishing in-state residency.)
An approved FAFSA application will automatically confirm citizenship.
Students who do not provide documentation to satisfy legal status will not be eligible for
any financial assistance using state monies and will be billed for out-of-state tuition.
