To Richard's friends in the flavor industry: Richard slipped away peacefully in his sleep a little before 11:30 last night. He had been in a coma-like state the past couple of days so I knew the end was near. I know he cherished his friendship with each of you and many others he has worked with over the past 50 or so years. Many of you sent emails to him, through me, thanking him for his influence in your lives. I read each of them to him and he let me know how much he appreciated your kind words. I also want to thank you for sharing this with our 3 children and me. Richard loved his work and enjoyed helping others when he could. He was in the flavor industry because Dr. Jack Bouton mentored him when he started as a lab tech at Green & Green, Inc. back in 1963. This is now a legacy he has given to each of you to continue through your life and work. Because your kind words mean so much to me, I have printed them onto paper that can be displayed at the family gathering after the funeral and then be kept in his Memory Book. I hope this has your approval. If not, please let me know and I will honor your requests. Sincerely, Pam Feagin
