The EMH metering GmbH & Co. KG
Since the foundation of EMH Elektrizitätszähler GmbH & Co KG in 1991 the metering industry has changed dramatically. Whereas at the beginning of the 90s the newly emerging static electricity meters
were predominant, nowadays the complex systems demand for registering, transferring, storing and
also distributing comprehensive measured data.
EMH addressed these new challenges with an extended product portfolio as well as a change of the
company name to EMH metering GmbH & Co. KG in 2010 which reflects the influential global market
position.
Today, EMH metering GmbH & Co. KG is an innovative and established company which is leading
worldwide in the field of development, production and marketing of digital electricity meters including
their related products and corresponding communication.
Our continuous success would not be possible without our more than 300 competent and highly-motivated employees at the company headquarters in Wittenburg, close to Hamburg.
Product portfolio
Our product portfolio is very diverse and ranges from so called precision meters for power plant feeding and measuring in high voltage – and transmission networks, to special meters for use in distribution – and low voltage networks right through to electronic domestic meters. Besides that, EMH metering
GmbH & Co. KG offers diverse meter solutions for traction measurement, wind power stations, sub-metering solution and industrial (Bus-) purposes and also system solutions for the transmission and analysis
of data for billing purposes.
We offer and sell the specified Smart Metering products in FNN (Forum Netztechnik / Netzbetrieb =
network technology/network operation forum), which we constantly continue to develop in close cooperation with leading German power supply companies. Our products can be smoothly integrated
in Smart Metering system solutions. These solutions are geared toward wide scale use of interactive
electronic domestic meters including all the relevant facets & requirements of such a system such as
signatures and data encryption.
The customers benefit from the state approved test centre EP21 at EMH metering GmbH & Co. KG. If
requested by the customer, the meters can be calibrated and then used for billing purposes. In addition to official calibration, our company is also able to offer a compliance certificate for the meters in
accordance with the EU guidelines 2004/22 EG (MID) according to module B + D.
Research and Development
The R&D department consists of 50 engineers/ technicians and the department plays an essential
role in our companies’ success. Our specialists have extensive Know-How and look back at over 20
years of experience in the field of development. In each of the individual areas of hardware, software
and construction the latest software solutions are used. This allows us to develop high quality products
which are simple, future orientated and in line with the market. It also means that we are able to respond flexibly to any individual customer request.
