Chilean writer Jorge Edwards was at UPS
Poets and UPS professors
The VIII International Poetry Festival- Ileana Espinel Cedeño 2015 - was held in Guayquil from the
23 to the 27 of November with over 85 poets from 15 countries: France, Spain, Mongolia, India,
Domenican Republic, Puerto Rico, USA, Venezuela, Chile, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Mexico,
Cuba and Ecuador.
The events were took place in Universidad Politécnica Salesiana -Guayaquil (UPS), la Casa de la
Cultura Núcleo del Guayas, Centro Ecuatoriano Norteamericano, Alianza Francesa de Guayaquil
and Centro Cultural Simón Bolívar (MAAC). Some of the poets who attended were Juan Manuel
Roca, Fernando Rendón, Rafael Courtoisie, Ralph Nazareth, Mercedes Roffé, Yrene Santos,
Tergel Khulganai.
On the 24th, UPS-Guayaquil held the talk titled "Life, literature and books" with Chilean writer
Jorge Edwards, who won the Cervantes Award in 1999, and Spanish writier Manuel Borrás, editor
of Pre-Textos in Spain, two renowned writers in Latin America.
