A Message from Fr. Tony
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Last Friday was the solemnity of the Sacred Heart. The devotion to the
Scared Heart of Jesus was very important in my family and each of us kids,
when we were born, were dedicated to the Sacred Heart. The revelation of
God in the Scriptures is that He is a God of Love. Jesus reveals God as
love in the revelation of His own heart – His Sacred Heart. The image of
the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a very common one in churches and in
homes. It depicts Jesus with a heart which is burning. This communicates a
great truth that Jesus’ heart burns with love for each of us. What a tremendous joy and
consolation that should bring us. May each of us know deep in our hearts that burning love
that Jesus has for us and through that love may we be inspired to love one another as He
has commanded us.
This coming week I will be in Rochester for the Presbyteral Assembly. Every two years all the
priests of the Archdiocese meet together for a few days of prayer, study and fraternity. Please
pray for the priests, especially in these days of difficulty for our Archdiocese.
God bless,
Fr. Tony

What a blast we had at SonSpark Labs! Many thanks to our fabulous volunteers and all the
incredible children who participated last week in Vacation Bible School. We learned about God’s
life-changing plan as we read stories from the Bible, along with hands-on activities that helped
us get to know Jesus and God’s plan of salvation. Stay tuned for pictures from our exciting week
in future bulletins!
Children’s Liturgy of the Word meets next Sunday, June 21st, at the 10:30 Mass. Join us if
you’re in Preschool through 4th Grade to explore the Scripture readings and relate them to our
lives.
What’s Happening Now?
Understanding the Mass
“Behold the Lamb of God.” After we ask the Lamb of God to have mercy on us and grant us
peace, the priest elevates the Body and Blood of Christ and declares: “Behold the Lamb of God,
behold Him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the
Lamb.” He declares to us that this is the source of our salvation. The use of the word “behold”
indicates something of importance is to follow and we should pay close attention. John the Baptist
was the first to call Jesus by this name when He came to the Jordon River to be baptized by him.
(John 1:29) John knew who Jesus was, and that He was the Suffering Servant that was predicted by
Isaiah, the prophet. (Is. 53:7-11) “Blessed are those called…” should remind us that God first calls us,
and that if we respond, He will truly bless us with all that we need. Think about: How amazing is it
that our salvation comes from a Lamb!
Priest, Prophet, King by Fr. Robert Barron
Bible
Study In part 5 of Fr. Barron’s series, he compares the kingship of David to that of Jesus, and
how Jesus completes the meaning of “King.” Whereas David failed in remaining true to
God, Jesus totally fulfills the will of the Father. Please join us for the next session on
Monday night at 6:30pm or Tuesday at 1:30pm in the Church Library.
