We have created this badge to help raise money towards two events this year that our members are taking part in. We hope that with your support in taking part in our challenge that we will be able to support them in the cost of their adventure. Any additional money raised will go into the Rangers funds that we can afford to help them in other activities and trips in the future. Page 2 Comic book Superhero Badge 2015 There are 5 sections to the badge, They are: 1. The Superheroes 2. The Powers 3. The Costumes Look out for the purple boxes with red writing these contain Specific challengers or Adapted challengers to help rainbow leaders 4. The Side-kicks 5. The Supervillains Ending the badge with a superhero themed party – superhero themed quizzes are at the back of the pack for you to have a go at, at your superhero party. Design and make a superhero lair – Be imaginative and use whatever your want e.g. cake, sweets, blankets and chairs, cardboard and paint – R B G SS Make famous superheroes out of loom bands – There is a list of videos to watch on Pg2 and there are instructions on how to make a Spiderman on Pg14 of the resources – B G SS Create an edible superhero scene – R B G SS Find out the history of comic books and who is the oldest/ youngest of the superheroes – Once you have done this create a comic strip featuring the oldest and youngest superheroes working together – G SS Rainbows can use the scene given in the resources to help them create their sweetie scene – Pg12 Read 5 comics featuring your favourite superheroes – B G SS / Superhero Magnets – Using the pictures in the resources, your Rainbows can colour them in. Once they are cut out you stick magnets on them for them to take home and stick on the fridge. – Pg13 & 14 Page 4 The Powers What would your super power be? You could present your ideas to the unit as a group or individually to your patrols – B G SS Design some new superheroes gadgets – What do they do? Which superhero are they for? – R B G SS Rainbows can make their own shield, using paper plates turn upside down and colour in then add a bit of card out to make a handle when they are finished How did you get your superhero powers? – Create a back story for your own superhero share your ideas with the rest of the unit – once you have done this you could do the same for a supervillain – B G SS Rainbows can colour in the different superhero cars in the resources, add new gadgets to it make it pink if they want – Pg15 Which superhero is the most powerful? – Create an advertising poster showing all of the superheroes’ skills – B G SS Design new transport for a superhero – Whether it is your superhero or a famous one design a new form of transport for him/her and make it out of recycled materials. – R B G SS Making comic strips – Have a look at how comic strips are laid out and the different stories involving your favourite superhero. Create your own comic strip – you can do whatever you want. Have your superhero meet your favourite superhero. Have two of your favourite meet up and swap powers. Have your favourite superhero meet your favourite supervillain. You could act it out as a group instead of drawing it out – G SS What is a superheroes ‘kryptonite’? – Look at different superheroes and find out their Achilles heel (weakness). You could also decide what your superheroes Achilles heel would be. – R B G SS Rainbows can play a game of Pass the Kryptonite – just like the game “hot potato” but you use something green to pass around. Play some music as they pass around the Kryptonite, whoever is left holding the Kryptonite when the music stop is out. The last person left in the circle is the Superhero Page 5 The Costumes Make your own superhero costume – Design and make your own superhero costume, it could be a costume for your superhero or it could be a new costume for your favourite superhero, once you are all done you could hold a fashion show to show off your designs to the rest of your unit – B G SS Design a costume for an animal sidekick – Pick an animal to be the new sidekick for your superhero or your favourite superhero then design it a costume for it. – R B G SS Rainbows can use the pictures of animals in the resources to colour in and draw on or design separately a costume for their new sidekick – Pg17 Make a supervillain costume – Design and make a supervillain a new costume, it can be your own supervillain or your favourite supervillain, once you are all done you could hold a fashion show to show off your design to the rest of the unit – G SS Every superhero has a secret identity, Captain America is Steve Rodgers, Hulk is Bruce Banner, Batman is Bruce Wayne – Create an alter ego for your superhero so they can lead a normal life as well, give them a cover story, a job and a house. Have a look at superhero stories to inspire your own – B G SS Design a superhero logo then make it out of sweets – It could be for your superhero or a new logo for your favourite superhero – R B G SS Rainbows can use the logos in the resources to create their sweetie logo – Pg16 Where does your Superhero change into their costume? Is it a phone box, a bin? – Design your superhero or your favourite superhero a place to change into their costume and kit it out with all the latest gadgets or make it just a changing room – B G SS An extra craft of the Rainbows – Make Superhero masks, using the different mask shapes in the resources to create their own. You could use these as part of your costume for the party – Pg18 How have superheroes costumes changed over time – Have a look at one superhero’s costume and see how it has changed over time. You could play a game by printing off the pictures and either guess the oldest costume to the newest or try and match the years to the costumes – G SS Page 6 The Side-kicks Create a side-kick – Create a comic strip as to how they became a side-kick to their superhero- B G SS Make your side-kick into a cake – R B G SS Rainbows could decorate cookies instead Who is the bravest sidekick? – Everyone create a poster for their favourite/bravest sidekick stating why they are the bravest – B G SS Create a new side-kick for a famous superhero – Create an advert to show off their skills so that the superhero will want to hire them – B G SS Design a cereal for your favourite side-kick, superhero or supervillain – Create a new cereal using the name of a side-kick, superhero or supervillain. Design and make the box they will go in (example in resources – Pg20) – R B G SS Create Marshmallow sidekicks – Using Rainbows can colour in the cereal box cocktail sticks place two marshmallows picture in the resources and make them on them then decorate them to look into a box. You could have a cereal like your sidekick or your favourite tasting evening – Pg21-24 sidekick – R B G SS Every side-kick, superhero and supervillain has a creator – look into the creation of comics, when did they start, who started them, who are the artist behind all of your favourite side-kicks, superheroes and supervillain, spend a meeting discussing what you have found out about the world of comics – G SS Using lolly sticks colour them in to look like you favourite side-kick, superhero or supervillain, for a more professional look use paints. Make a side-kick, superhero or supervillain bookmark – Make your favourite sidekick, superhero or supervillain into a bookmark – R B G SS Page 7 The Supervillains Create a supervillain – Once you have created your supervillain create an advert for your supervillain recruiting fellow baddies to be part of his/her army – R B G SS Rainbows can use the split pin superhero in the resources to make into a supervillain – Pg11 What are your evil superpowers? – You are a supervillain what are you evil powers and who/what do you use them on. Create a comic strip where your superpowers are shown in action – B G SS Everyone needs a friend – using the pictures of animals in the resources, make them into a supervillains best friend – Pg17 Marshmallow supervillains – take a cocktail stick and put two marshmallows on after that put other sweets on to make it into a supervillain – R B G SS Why is the superhero your nemesis? – Create a back ground story as to why you and your superhero are nemesis – B G SS Which supervillain would you be and why? Have a group discussion – G SS Design your own supervillain logo then make it out of sweets – R B G SS Are you really a supervillain or are you misunderstood? – Create a story as to why you became a supervillain. You could act out your supervillain story. – B G SS Loki is the Nemesis of the Avengers – Make the Loki in the resources so that the Avengers can put him in prison. You could design and build him a prison. Split the girls up into groups each group The Hulk having a base for the prison (for the villains) and Sprite or lemonade a safe house (for the civilians). The aims of the Lime and kiwi smoothie game is to get the most of both the villains in Lime Slice prison and civilians in the safe house. You lose The Black Widow points for popping any balloon.
