DEKATEC® High Performance Pipes
DEKATEC® is the answer to problems requiring unique and
outstanding standards of performance in various fields of
applications, such as chemical, medical, environmental
and aeronautical engineering as well as the food industry.
Thanks to the profile of properties of high performance
polymers, many applications can be opened up that were
infeasible using polymers only some years ago.
All well known advantages of polymers, such as low density,
good corrosion resistance or the option for transparency are
gaining an influence over traditional material concepts.
Since the individual profiles of the relevant polymers of
this class are very different, we assist our customers with
a competent consultation service regarding all questions
concerning material selection.
DEKATEC® high performance polymers are designed to be
used in a very wide temperature range; this class of materials enables the use of plastics between –190 °C and +300 °C;
additionally, even the conveyance of aggressive media
can be controlled.
Apart from that Georg Fischer DEKA also offers individually
planned, designed and processed pipe products.

can be chosen)
Fire Behaviour
Mechanical Properties
Many of the DEKATEC® high performance polymers show
an outstanding flame-retardancy; in particular some of them
are listed as 5 V (UL 94 standard) assigning the utmost flame
resistance. The formation of toxic exhaust gases is much
lower when compared to ordinary polymers.
DEKATEC® high performance polymers are characterized
by a very high level of mechanical properties, even
beyond the 100 °C-limit; a further significant increase
of properties is possible by reinforcement with glass- or
carbon-fibres.
Benefit: Use of DEKATEC® is an active contribution for
fire-protection; some of the materials even comply with
the sophisticated specification for usage in aeronautical
engineering.
Benefit: Additional safety margin for your polymer-based
construction.
Electrical Properties
The DEKATEC® Product Range
DEKATEC® high performance polymers show an excellent
electrical insulation behavior over a wide temperature range;
a modification resulting in changing from insulation to
antistatic properties is feasible for selected
polymers.
DEKATEC® pipes are manufactured in diameters from
OD 5mm up to OD 160mm.
Service Temperatures
Jointing
Depending on the respective type of polymer,
DEKATEC® pipes can be joined by using either adhesive
cements or welding techniques.
Whereas conventional plastics can be used in a temperature
range of typically –40 °C to +140 °C, DEKATEC® materials
offer a strongly expanded range from –190 °C to +300 °C.
Benefit: Enlargement of the application temperature
range in industrial engineering.
Further Processing
As thermoplastic polymers, DEKATEC® pipe products can
be subjected to thermoforming and mechanical refinement
similar to other conventional polymers. Note that
Georg Fischer DEKA is ready to assist you in that: An entire
department at Georg Fischer DEKA is dedicated to further
process our piping products by thermoforming, drilling,
milling and various jointing techniques upon individual
request. Even the direct fabrication of complete modules
or highly sophisticated semi-finished products is possible
in-house.
Benefit: Georg Fischer DEKA – one partner for your
individual solution using high performance polymer pipes.
Chemical Resistance
The steadily increasing demands on industrial piping is
obvious in the field of chemical, industrial or aeronautical
engineering, life-science and marine applications.
More intensified and strict environmental regulations as well
as further improvements of analytical techniques tend to
continuously restrict the use of pipe products made of
standard polymers. In many cases DEKATEC® pipes offer
very interesting alternatives – both innovative and cost
effective.
Benefit: DEKATEC® as an option to replace cost-intensive
solutions in metal or enamel.
Consultation Service
Problems arising from the application of various materials
in industrial piping are solved in close cooperation with our
clients. It is the synergy from clearly defined requirements
by the respective application and Georg Fischer DEKA’s
unique experience comprising almost any thermoplastic
polymer class that enables an industrial solution.
DEKATEC® materials are an important element in that
approach.
