You have fortitude
Fortitude means mental strength and courage that
allows someone to face unpleasant or difficult
situations.
The students showed great fortitude as they
prepared for their upcoming assessments.
Once there were three friends named Sam, Kat,
and Ava. They lived in an alleyway behind a pet
store. They didn’t have a lot of fortitude. One day
when the friends woke up they saw a billboard that
said “FREE COUPONS TO FANTASY ROLLER
SKATING RINK! Buy before they’re gone! “We
should definitely try that roller skating rink.” “I
don’t know Ava, remember we don’t have a lot of
fortitude.” “Sam is right Ava, We don’t have a lot of
fortitude at all.“ said Kat. Three minutes later:
Sam, Kat, and Ava were putting on their roller
skates at the rink with no fortitude at all. Once they
skated around for a while the friends had so much
fortitude they could climb a mountain. By the end
of the day they had so much fortitude they were
never scared again.
Mr. Baylor showed great fortitude when he was in
8th grade because he had to make the right decision
and go against his friends.
Mrs. Grace thinks that you need great fortitude
for the PSSA’S and marathons.
Always be epic
Be avid
Avid means extremely eager and enthusiastic.
How thrilling it is to see students with an avid
appetite for books!
Once there was a girl named Kacey. She was an
avid dancer and she was eager to go to her first
dance recital. She got there and she was nervous
when she got on stage. But then when Kacey started
dancing she felt even more eager than she did
before. “I can do this,” she said in her mind. Kacey
did one of her most dangerous moves of all, the
triple flip. Kacey had courage in herself. She was
done with her dance and she got an epic standing
ovation. So many people in her family came and
they were so proud of her. They even got her flowers
and took her out for dinner. She was now extremely
happy.
Mrs. McIntyre thinks that Winnie the Pooh has an
avid desire for honey because he is always pursuing
it. Winnie the Pooh loves honey and tries to do
anything he can get it.
Mrs. Hillegas thinks that the cookie monster has an
avid desire for cookies because he loves the smell of
cookies baking.
Listen to melodious sounds
Melodious means sweet-sounding; pleasing to the
ear; musical.
The melodious sound of the chorus brought joy to
the audience as it permeated the auditorium.
Once there were 3 sisters named Vanessa, Violet,
and Valery. They were dancing champions. They won
American Idol, Dancing With the Stars, and
America’s Next Big Thing at only 10 years old. They
listened to all kinds of melodious music. They
listened to their favorite melodious songs like
Uptown Funk and Blank Space. Today they are in a
dance competition. They’re going against the team
called “We Love Melodious Music.” Vanessa, Violet,
and Valery won the competition thanks to their
melodious music and great dance moves.
Epic means very impressive or ambitious.
We all applauded the class for completing the
epic goal of reading 1,000 books!
There were two brothers named Nick and
Jack. They were going to go skateboarding. Jack
said he was going to do an epic trick Nick also
said he was going to do an epic trick. They went
to the skate park and Nick did an epic triple
flip! Then Jack did a 360 spin! They did more
epic tricks like a front flip and 2 backflips. They
went home and told their mom about their epic
day.

Ever wonder where the WOWs come from?
We found out! Mrs. Angelucci and Dr. Eliker
said they read books and write down WOW
words while reading. Then in the summer they
get Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and meet together
with WOW finds and a calendar. They mark
the WOW finds on a date. Then they make
sure it’s positive and uplifting. The teacher
that found the most WOW words this year is
Mrs. Gunter. The staff that found the most
WOW words is Mr. Wolfe. The most common
WOW word found is eager.

Ashley Garcia from Mrs. Arndt’s class was
chosen to be our featured student. She wanted
to build a WOW robot but she didn’t have any
real robot parts so she used her imagination and
found scraps around her house. Ashley’s favorite
book to find WOWS in is the Magic Horse. The
WOW she found was majestic. Her favorite
activities to do out of school is ride her bike
with her sister. Also her favorite WOW is skylark
because she announced the word on the morning
announcements. Ashley likes to write stories
with WOW’s because she wants to know what
the words mean. Last but not least she has won
the WOW cape 2 times and she got it both times
in 2nd grade.
