Russell has been with the City for just over two years, with all that time as the very-busy Administrative Services Manager. I say very busy because he and his team are responsible for a significant range of functions that are crucial in keeping the City running – Human Resources, Information Technology, Emergency Preparedness, and many of the City’s contracts. He has over 23 years of experience, in both the nonprofit and municipal worlds. For nearly a year prior to joining Half Moon Bay, Russell was the HR Manager for the City of East Palo Alto, and just before that he served as the Deputy Director and Schools Program Director for the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center. As the Administrative Services Manager, a large part of Russell’s job is to support our staff by providing them with the tools and training they need, in order to best serve our community. “It’s an honor every day to work with and support our very dedicated staff members,” says Russell. “We all share a great respect for the people who live and work here, and I’m so pleased to be able to do my part to improve this community.” Russell, along with his spouse and son, lives in the City of Santa Clara, which he has called home since 2001. He enjoys jazz, and loves to cook when he gets a chance. Russell says he also likes to practice cartooning, just for fun. Fun Fact: During President Obama’s first run for office, Russell was working the polls on election day and was shocked when a woman embraced him yelling “You’re here!” apparently mistaking him for Obama. Not long after that, he was at AT&T Park watching a game when a man came over and started taking pictures, and then others nearby started staring at him and asking who he was. Russell calls this his “brief flirtation with fame!” City Council Meeting 4/4 Green Energy Community Workshop 4/10 Planning Commission Meeting 4/11 City Council Meeting 4/18 Earth Day 4/22 HMB Triathlon 4/23 Planning Commission Meeting 4/25 Parks and Recreation Meeting 4/26 “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.” John Lennon
