You Are What You Eat

Participants will be asked to respond to R.O. Schneider’s A Strange Repast.
Participants will be invited to collaborate on a list of their favorite foods,
and then asked to create a web of design elements for those foods. For
example, if a student chose spaghetti, we would create web bubbles for
yellow, line, skinny, twisted, mound, red, white, etc. Participants would then
use this process to create an abstract drawing or painting of what they ate
for dinner the night before.

Participants will be asked to respond to Andrew Stasik’s Summer
Landscape II, Anthony Toney’s Rooftops, Clinton Adams’ Window Series
II, Vernon Clint Witham’s Moonlit Sequence, and Aaron Levy’s Untitled.
Participants will be invited to engage in a conversation about how
color, line, and shape imply the season or time of day in a work of art.
Participants will be given the opportunity to create paper collages to
represent their favorite season or time of day.
