ADMINISTRATOR’S
COMMENTS
We are midway through our Club House renovation schedule and have appreciated your patience and interest thus far. I’m happy to report that work
is proceeding according to plan and that our targeted goal for completion of the project remains mid-June. We will continue to post regular updates in
both the newsletter and notifications delivered to your front door and/or building lobby. The updated fitness center, with it’s added space, new equipment
and floor-to-ceiling views of the pool area will put a smile on your face when complete. You’ll also appreciate the contemporary coastal elegance of our
new and improved Main Lounge, with its mile-wide views of the Back Bay, and updated library. Tired of taking the stairs? A new elevator will deliver you from
street level to pool level in just a few seconds.
If you are new to Park Newport or simply wondering what’s new in the neighborhood, we began the current phase of construction on March 1st by relocating Club operations to
the Bay View Room in the upper northeast wing of the building. At that time, we closed access to the structure through the traditional front entry and began asking Park Newport
residents to enter via the Bay View pedestrian ramp, which faces the driveway approximately halfway between the main entrance and east end of the Club House at street level. It’s
been working out beautifully thanks to your patience and a bit of imaginative thinking. Please remember, access to the pool area and temporary fitness facilities is limited to the north
gate at pool level. The pool area is open for your enjoyment daily and closes nightly at 10pm, and midnight on Friday and Saturday nights. Thank you in advance for observing our
“No Alcohol” policy in the pool area.
Check out our activities schedule in this edition of our community newsletter and remember our movie and game nights in the Catalina and Balboa Rooms. Please note: the Park
Newport Shuttle is operating per its normal schedule. Pickups and drop offs are in front of the Catalina Room until the Clubhouse renovation is complete. Please feel free to contact
your Club team directly at (949) 644-4664 with questions. As you know, we are working hard to keep your surroundings and amenities distinctive and fresh and appreciate your
patience during the transformation. Please let us know how we may continue to keep your frustrations minimal and accept our thanks in advance for your understanding.

THE LOVELY BONES (PG-13)
TENDERNESS (R)
When 14-year-old Susie Salmon (Saoirse Ronan) is
murdered, she watches from above as her family
deals with her tragic death -- and as her killer
prepares to strike again. Torn between vengeance
and healing, Susie's loved ones are forever
changed. Mark Wahlberg and Rachel Weisz star in
Peter Jackson's adaptation of Alice Sebold's
riveting, best-selling novel; Susan Sarandon and
Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci co-star.
After completing his stint in a juvenile detention
center for murder, 18-year-old ex-con Eric Poole
(Jon Foster) embarks on a hazardous road trip with
Lori, a hyper teen (Sophie Traub), close by his side.
But little do the troubled pair know that they are
being tracked by Det. Cristofuoro (Russell Crowe), a
hard-nosed New York cop who's convinced that
Poole is a psychopath capable of killing again.
May 11
AVATAR (PG-13)
DISGRACE (R)
Disabled Marine Jake Sully (Sam Worthington)
travels to planet Pandora to become an avatar,
ingratiate himself with the natives and help
Americans mine lucrative unobtainium. But he finds
himself in an interstellar conflict after falling for
Na'vi warrior Neytiri (Zoe Saldana). James Cameron
writes and directs this Golden Globe-winning CGI
odyssey that has broken box office records.
Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang co-star.
After an imprudent affair with a student, Cape Town
professor David Lurie (John Malkovich) flees to his
daughter's remote farm to escape the scandal, only
to find tragedy when a trio of black youths brutally
assaults them. But Lurie is forced to face
apartheid's lasting repercussions when he
discovers that one of the attackers is related to a
trusted employee (Eriq Ebouaney) in this pensive
drama based on J.M. Coetzee's novel.

EDGE OF DARKNESS (R)
LEAP YEAR (PG)
As a seasoned homicide detective, Thomas Craven
(Mel Gibson) has seen the bleakest side of
humanity. But nothing prepares him for the
toughest investigation of his life: the search for his
only daughter Emma's (Bojana Novakovic) killer.
Now, he is on a personal mission to uncover the
disturbing secrets surrounding her murder,
including corporate corruption, government
collusion and Emma's own mysterious life.
Anna (Amy Adams) chooses February 29 to propose
marriage to her "perfect" boyfriend, Jeremy (Adam
Scott), sure he'll accept because of an Irish custom.
But after meeting charming innkeeper Declan
(Matthew Goode) en route to Dublin, Anna must
evaluate her original plans. Anand Tucker directs
this charming romantic comedy about finding what
one really wants in the most unexpected places.
John Lithgow co-stars.

INVICTUS (PG-13)
EXTRAORDINARY MEASURES (PG)
After their two young children are diagnosed with a
rare genetic disease for which conventional
medicine has no cure, John (Brendan Fraser) and
Aileen (Keri Russell) pin their hopes on the work of
unconventional scientist Dr. Robert Stonehill
(Harrison Ford). Director Tom Vaughan's heartfelt
drama is based on the true story of the Crowley
family, as chronicled by journalist Geeta Anand in
her book The Cure.
In this drama based on real-life events, director
Clint Eastwood tells the story of what happened
after the end of apartheid when newly elected
president Nelson Mandela used the 1995 World
Cup rugby matches to unite his people in South
Africa. Based on John Carlin's book, the film stars
Morgan Freeman as Mandela and Matt Damon
(both Oscar nominated) as Francois Pienaar, the
captain of the scrappy South African team that
makes a run for the championship.
