Nile River Festival 2016 January 21st to 24th Accommodation The Nile River Festival is based out of two locations, the Nile River Explorers (NRE) campsite at Bujagali and the Hairy Lemon Island on the west bank of the Nile near Nazigo. We recommend staying at the NRE campsite on Thursday Jan 21 s t , Saturday Jan 23 r d and Sunday Jan 24 t h . For Friday Jan 22 n d we recommend the Hairy Lemon. A range of accommodation options from camping to private rooms is available at both locations. Fees There are no fees to spectate any event at the Nile River Festival 2016! SHUTTLE SERVICE: Transport will be leaving the event base for the river each day to take both spectators and competitors to the river. To use this service there is a small charge of 5,000ugx per single journey. For example, to travel to the end of the Endurance Race at the Hairy Lemon is a single journey of 5,000. To travel to Itanda Falls from Bujagali and back again is two journeys totally 10,000. This service will at two times only per day, once at the start of the day from the accommodation to the river and once at the end of day from the river back to the accommodation. All vehicles will need to be full before departing. Payment for the shuttle service will be made at the Nile River Explorers campsite prior to departure. If you want to get yourself bargain, you can purchase a spectator’s package (email us for details/to book). SATURDAY NIGHT PARTY ENTRY: There is a small cover charge of 10,000ugx for entry to the Nile River Explorers campsite at Saturday night’s party. If you are staying at the campsite you will not be charged. Event wristbands will be in use and anyone without a wristband will be asked to pay 10,000 or leave the property. Spectators Please ensure you are well prepared for your day by the river. There will be limited shade and it will be hot. Bring water, some small change for food & drinks, and sunscreen. Please look after your valuables, you are responsible for anything you bring with you. Do not be tempted to swim in the river! We host these events on white water rapids that are dangerous to swimmers without safety equipment. The NRF can take no responsibility for your personal safety whilst travelling to/from the event or spectating. Please note there are no toilet facilities by the river at the Nile Special Freestyle Event on Saturday 23 r d . Food & drinks Food and a selection of drinks e.g. Nile Special, Red Bull, water etc. will be available to purchase by the river on Saturday 23 r d and Sunday 24 t h . SUGGESTED ACCOMMODATION: Nile River Explorers Campsite Food and drink available at the campsite bar. Friday 22nd January: EVENT 2 – EXTREME ENDURANCE RACE (30km Bujagali Dam to NRE rafting take-out) 10:30am: spectator transport leaves NRE campsite for the finish line near the Hairy Lemon island (journey time approx. 1.5hrs) 11:30am: Race starts at the Bujagali Dam. 2.00pm (approximately): 1st competitors expected to arrive at the finish line. Est. 5:30pm Truck depart the NRE takeout for Bujagali or… 7.00pm til late Party at the Hairy Lemon SUGGESTED ACCOMMODATION: The Hairy Lemon Island Camp Saturday 23rd January: EVENT 3 – NILE SPECIAL FREESTYLE COMPETITION 11:00am: vehicle departs NRE campsite to take spectators to the Nile Special wave (journey time approx. 1hr15mins). 12pm: For spectators at the Hairy Lemon, there will be raft transport up river to the competition from the island. 2pm – 6:30pm: NILE SPECIAL BIG AIR FREESTYLE EVENT Food and drinks will be available to buy at the event site, please note there is limited shade here and no toilet facilities, bring plenty of water & sunscreen. 6:30pm: Vehicles depart riverside back to Nile River Explorers campsite (journey time approx. 1hr15mins) 8pm til late Live music from multiple acts and partying at NRE campsite SUGGESTED ACCOMMODATION: Nile River Explorers Campsite Sunday 24th January: Event 4 – HENDRI COETZEE MEMORIAL ITANDA FALLS EXTREME RACE 10:30am: Vehicles depart NRE campsite for Itanda Falls. 12:30pm-3:30pm: Hendri Coetzee Memorial Itanda Falls Extreme Race. 4:00pm: Event prize giving 4:30pm: Vehicles return to Nile River Explorers campsite 6pm til late Party at NRE campsite SUGGESTED ACCOMMODATION: Nile River Explorers Campsite The schedule is subject to change and may change at short notice www.kayakthenile.com
