Release Notes Kinetix 5500 Servo Drives, Firmware Revisions 1.001 and 1.002 Catalog Numbers 2198-H003-ERS, 2198-H008-ERS, 2198-H015-ERS, 2198-H025-ERS, 2198-H040-ERS, 2198-H070-ERS About This Publication This publication contains release notes for Kinetix® 5500 servo drives, firmware revisions 1.001 and 1.002, when used with the Studio 5000™ Logix Designer application. Enhancements The Kinetix 5500 servo drives and Kinetix VP low-inertia servo motors provide a cost-effective motion solution that delivers high performance and scalability with motor windings matched to drive ratings for optimized system sizing. Enhancing the current midrange architecture portfolio, this motion system is designed to connect and operate with 1756-ENxTx ControlLogix® EtherNet/IP modules and the new family of CompactLogix™ 5370 controllers by using the Studio 5000 environment and supporting the Integrated Motion on EtherNet/IP network. With the benefits of this motion system, you can now run motion applications on a single control platform, using a single network – simplifying the design, operation, and maintenance of equipment. These enhancements correspond to Kinetix 5500 drive firmware revisions when used with the Logix Designer application. Table 1 - Enhancements with Revision 1.002 Cat. No. Enhancement Single-turn absolute encoders now support use as incremental feedback devices. 2198-H003-ERS 2198-H008-ERS 2198-H015-ERS 2198-H025-ERS 2198-H040-ERS 2198-H070-ERS Added CIP Statistics and Network Statistics pages to Kinetix 5500 web interface. Front panel display contrast ratio is now adjustable using the front panel user interface. Added help screens for configuring network IP from the front panel user interface. Added support for Velocity Trim with induction motors. Corrected Anomalies These corrections correspond to Kinetix 5500 drive firmware revisions when used with the Logix Designer application. Table 2 - Corrected Anomalies with Revision 1.002 Cat. No. Corrected Anomalies CORRECTED: Current feedback units are incorrect on the Monitor Signals web page. CORRECTED: Drive reports motor temperature of 0 °C when thermistor wires are broken. This has been corrected to display 1000 °C when thermistor wires are broken. 2198-H003-ERS 2198-H008-ERS 2198-H015-ERS 2198-H025-ERS 2198-H040-ERS 2198-H070-ERS CORRECTED: Drive incorrectly attempts to decelerate the motor when a Converter Overtemp FL fault (FLT-S18) or Converter Thermal Overload FL fault (FLT-S20) occurs. The drive now does an Immediate Stop (coast). CORRECTED: When using external shunts, the drive limits shunt utilization more than necessary, resulting in Bus Regulator Thermal Overload faults (FLT S29 or FLT S30). CORRECTED: Ethernet statistics values are not getting updated on Port Configuration tab in the Logix Designer application. CORRECTED: When Requested Packet Interval (RPI) is set to a non-integral number, the drive sends packets to the controller at an incorrect rate. CORRECTED: The drive generates unexpected motion and produces an Excessive Position Error Fault (FLT-S54) when enabled following a Logix Designer application download. CORRECTED: ModuleSyncAlarm not clearing in the Logix Designer application. Additional Resources These documents contain additional information concerning related products from Rockwell Automation.
