Cleaning Recommendations
•
•
•
•
•
Only clean the Exochique high gloss surface with a mild detergent.
Only use a soft cloth such as a “Microfibre cloth or a chamois” to wipe the surface down.
Always ensure the cloth is damp before using.
Ensure to rinse any contaminants from the cleaning cloth after each wipe
Clean up any spillages immediately. Be careful of wiping down spillages that may contain
abrasive ingredients e.g. toothpaste.
When wiping down only apply light pressure.
•
•
At the end of the cleaning session– thoroughly wash and rinse the cleaning cloth ready for next
time. (This avoids the risk of abrasive contaminants being left in the cloth).
Caution
Do Not
•
•
•
•
•
Under no circumstance use solvent based cleaners – these may damage the surface and cause
the surface to become dull.
Do not use abrasive cleaners.
Do not use coarse cleaning cloths or dry paper towels.
Do not scrape the surface.
Do not use excessive pressure or heavy circular motions– this may leave swirl marks.
Vanity Tops
• Ensure water temperature at the tap outlet does not exceed 55°C. This is a requirement of the New
Zealand Building Code and will void the product warranty of your Athena vanity top if exceeded.
• Never clean your Athena vanity top using solvent based cleaners. Only use cleaning products that
have been recommended for use on Acrylic surfaces (read product label).
• Use a ‘Ceramic Eraser’ to remove metallic marks from a Vitreous China top.
• Light scratches can be removed from an Acrylic vanity top by using ‘Brasso’ or fine ‘wet & dry’
sandpaper, followed by polishing with a fine car cutting compound.
• Deep scratches, we recommend an experienced Acrylic Repairer is contacted.
• Composite Granite tops – use a damp cloth

DOOR ALIGNMENT
1.
AND REMOVAL
The cabinet doors are factory set but should your installation
require further adjustment, use the adjustment screws provided
on the hinge mechanism. A No.2 Pozi Drive Screwdriver will be
required.
1.
To adjust the doors “ vertically” loosen the hinge mounting
screws on both sets of door hinges. Lift or lower the door as
required, then lightly retighten.
2.
To adjust the doors “left or right” loosen the front
adjustment screw. Reposition door as required and
retighten.
3.
To adjust the doors “in or out” loosen the rear adjustment
screw and slide the door into desired position, then
retighten screw.
4.
To remove the door from the cabinet press the lug at the
rear of the hinge and pivot the rear of the hinge outwards.
(If fitted with a soft door closer, the closer will also need to
be removed in the same way)
5.
To re-attach, position the front of the hinge so the two lugs
fit into the rebates on the base plate, press the rear lug
inwards and pivot back into its position. Apply pressure to
rear adjustment screw until hinge clicks into place.
2.
3.
Some tradesmen prefer to remove the vanity top before installing, this is not
essential. Some units are supplied with the top secured to the cabinet with hot melt
adhesive in the corners and Panel bond adhesive on the sides and rear rails.
Remove the top by starting from the rear of the unit, carefully cut the adhesives by
tapping a sharp knife or blade between the vanity top and cabinet. A wedge may be
gently inserted to help separate the top from the cabinet during the process. When
re-attaching, bond the top to the cabinet with either silicone or a Panel bond type
adhesive in original areas.
4.
Open the drawer.
Release drawer from the runner by pressing the coloured
plastic levers located on the underside each side of the
drawer
Once released the drawer can simply be slid forward and
lifted off the runners.
To refit drawer, extend the runners and align the drawer to
the runners. Hold the runner and push it back it into its
original position. The runners should “click” back into place
SEALING THE VANITY
FLOOR STANDING VANITY
To ensure the vanity is protected from potential water damage the following areas must also be sealed using a sanitary
grade silicone sealant.
•
•
•
•
The base of the vanity to the floor
The sides of the vanity to the wall
The rear edge of any top to the wall
The perimeter of a basin to the granite top and the
wall if applicable
A neat finish will be achieved by masking
along the areas being sealed
Allow the sealant to cure for a minimum of 24hrs before
use.

4.
Inspect that the unit is correct and undamaged.
Check that the floor is level and the walls plumb.
Remove the plastic transit feet from the cabinet base
and place into proposed position.
Check the vanity is level and plumb.
If adjustment is required, the cabinet base may be scribed to a
maximum of 4.0mm to suit the floor. Use a coarse sandpaper or
hand plane. Alternatively floor levelling compounds may be
applied. It is important that the cabinet is fully supported by its
base to achieve optimum performance from the doors and
drawers.
5
Remove the vanity. Mark and cut any holes required
to accommodate the plumbing.
Access to the cabinet can be made easy by the removal of the
doors and drawers. Refer to ’Alignment’ section. When
removing drawers ensure their positions are recorded as they
are not interchangeable.
6.
Drill tap-ware holes in the vanity top.
To cut the holes use a high-speed steel hole saw of an
appropriate size in an electric drill operating at a moderate
speed. When cutting, apply gentle downwards pressure in a
slow circular movement, minimising vibration. Take special care
when nearing the end of the cut by supporting the drill so it does
not impact on the vanity top surface. Withdraw the drill /holesaw
carefully to ensure the surrounding area is not damaged.
7.
Attach the vanity to the wall by screwing the rear top
rail of the cabinet into studs or nogs.
If your cabinet has a recessed back panel a packer will need to
be placed between back panel and wall at fixing points.
Warning
Do not induce a twist in the cabinet when
screwing to the wall. The cabinet must remain
true for the doors and drawers to operate correctly
8.
Install the tap-ware and waste. Seal the underside of
the waste flange with either Plumbers putty or
Silicone sealant.
If the tap-ware being installed does not have a gasket to seal it
to the vanity top it is recommended that Silicone sealant is
applied to the underside of tap-ware flange.
Caution
Do not over tighten the waste fitting during
installation
WALL HUNG
IMPORTANT:
INSTALLATION OF

Drill tap-ware holes in the vanity top, if not already drilled.
(refer to Floor standing installation section)
Using wooden blocks or similar support (not supplied),
position cabinet at desired height.
Check the vanity is level using a spirit level.
Using 75mm x 14 gauge hexagonal head “self drilling
wood screws” with washers (not supplied) attach the
vanity to the wall through the cabinet’s rear panel and into
studs/ nogs. Two rows of screws are recommended. It is
also recommended that a screw is placed through the
construction brackets at the rear of the cabinet and then
every 300mm along its length.
Important
Do not induce a twist in the cabinet when screwing
to the wall. The cabinet must remain true for the
doors and drawers to operate correctly
Caution
Do not over tighten
the waste fitting
when installing

4.
Inspect that the unit is correct and undamaged.
Check that the walls are plumb and flat (not bowed).
Remove the plastic transit feet from the cabinet base
(including wooden packers where fitted).
Determine height that vanity will be mounted at. This will
depend on preferred height of vanity top surface and
clearance requirements between tap ware and wall
mounted mirrors above vanity.
Mark and cut any holes required to accommodate the
plumbing. Access to the cabinet can be made easy by the
removal of the doors and drawers.
To remove doors and drawers please refer to the instructions
at the end of this installation guide. When removing drawers
ensure their positions are recorded as they are not
interchangeable.
10. Install the tap-ware and waste. Seal the underside of the
waste flange with either Plumbers putty or Silicone sealant.
If the tap-ware being installed does not have a gasket to seal it
to the vanity top it is recommended that Silicone sealant is
applied to the underside of tap-ware flange.
VITREOUS CHINA OR GRANITE TOP
Clean the perimeter of the vanity and the underside
of the top ensuring they are free of dust and
contaminants
Apply a generous bead of neutral cure silicone (not
supplied) to the outside partitions of the cabinet, as
shown.
Place top into position and leave silicone to cure.
Install the tap-ware.
If the tap-ware being installed does not have a gasket to
seal it to the vanity top it is recommended that silicone
sealant be applied to the underside of tap-ware flange.
5.
Install the waste. Seal the underside of the waste
flange with either Plumbers putty or silicone sealant.
If tap-ware and waste are to be fitted immediately after
installation, care must be taken to ensure top remains in correct
position until silicone cured.
Allow the sealant to cure for a minimum of 24 hrs
before use
INSTALLING A BASIN

5.
Pre-install the tap ware and the waste to the basin.
The Composite Granite Top is supplied with the
appropriate cut outs for wastes and tap ware.
To prevent water ingress into cabinet all cut outs must
be sealed. Using sanitary grade silicone sealant, apply
a bead of sealant around any holes cut for plumbing
fittings.
Lower the basin into position. The sealant will hold the
basin in its final position once cured.
Alternatively place the basin in position and seal
around its perimeter
Make the final tap ware connections
