Fueled by your generosity, Leaders of the Way, at 1/3 of the
annual Campaign, forms the bedrock for our United Way’s
on-going work. Community impact and investment, focusing
on changing social conditions and creating opportunities for a
better life for individuals, families and communities takes the
whole community working together.
The United Way of Thunder Bay has developed a Community
Impact strategy round three (3) essential focus areas, guided
by two (2) key strategies. These two strategies include:
•Funding human service programs
•Expanding development of community collaborations
and Community Projects
Funding applications for human service programs are
reviewed and evaluated by the Allocations Committee of
volunteers, to ensure that your gift is used responsibly and
effectively in your community. Community Collaborations and
partnerships are developed to engage the community to work
together to achieve a shared vision of a thriving community
where everyone can realize their potential. All of this work is
focused in three (3) essential areas:

2016 LEADERS STEP UP PROGRAM
The Leaders Step Up Program is an incentive to encourage
Leaders of the Way donors to increase their donations to the
United Way Community Fund.
Bombardier Transportation, with support from The J. Armand
Bombardier Foundation, is proud to continue to sponsor this
program in 2016. The primary intention is to encourage those
who did not participate in the program in 2015 to do so in
2016. We welcome and appreciate the participation of any
Leader. Each Leader who “steps up” their donation to the
United Way Community Fund by a minimum of $200, will have
the first $200 of any Community Fund increase matched by
Bombardier Transportation; they have generously committed
$20,000 to support this initiative for one additional year in 2016.
Our guest speaker, Nancy Chamberlain, Executive Director of
Thunder Bay Counselling Centre, gave a first-hand account
of the impact you are making in the community and the hope
this brings for a better future. Front line accounts of your
dollars at work in the community, bring home in real terms the
difference we are making together.
