EXPOSITION in Chapter 1 of The Cay

to accomplish in the story. The exposition is usually the first
part of a story. Within the exposition, characters are introduced,
settings are described, and the world and situation are
established in a creative way for the reader before real problems
occur. One main thing writers strive to accomplish in the
exposition is to grab readers’ attention and make them excited
about reading the story.
