Elmsford Day Camp CAMP TEEN ELITE INFORMATION GUIDE Please note: This site will be updated as new information arises. Updates will be highlighted in the table of contents. Camp Teen Elite is for campers aged 12—15 entering grades 7th—10th in the fall of 2017. *Partial week programs may be available: please contact camp administration to request this option. B. Dates - Camp Teen Elite will operate from Wednesday June 28th – Friday July 28th no camp on July with 4th. C. Hours – Hours will vary depending on the trip. An exact calendar with drop off and pick up times will be distributed to all registrants before the start of the season. If the camp trip falls within regular drop off and pick up hours, the regular drop off and pick up time is 8:45 a.m. 2:45 p.m. D. Early Drop Off - The early drop off program begins at 7:30 a.m. Campers can sign up for this ahead of time for the whole summer for a reduced rate, or you can pay as you go. Please see fees section. Activities include board games, arts and crafts. Campers can bring breakfast or a snack with them to eat if they wish. E. Extended Day Program - The extended day program allows campers to stay after regular camp hours until as late as 6:00 p.m. Campers can sign up for this ahead of time for the whole summer for a reduced rate, or you can pay as you go. Activities include Mad Science classes, movies and group games. An afternoon snack will be provided. It is suggested that you look at the trip list first to see if you will need the extended afternoon program, as many trips will have late dismissals. F. Camp Location - Alexander Hamilton High School - fields, cafeteria, and gymnasium will be used for daily activities. Swimming will be at local pools once per week. Trips are all over the tri-state area. An exact calendar with drop off and pick up times will be distributed to all registrants before the start of the season. G.Camper/Staff Ratios – The ratio between campers and counselors is 8:1. The Camp Teen Elite director is an experienced staff member who has RTE certification, and works in the field of education during the school year. There is an EMT who accompanies the campers on all trips, and the remainder of staff are either college aged, or older. H.Camper Information and Medical Forms - All registration information must be submitted online in order for your child to be enrolled for the season. Immunization and Physical forms MUST be submitted before the start of camp on June 28th. If you do not have these forms turned in, your child will not be able to attend. I. Camper Health - A health director will be on staff full time. All medical conditions should be noted on the proper registration forms, and can be discussed with the health director and camp director prior to the start of camp. Medicine MUST be given to the health director by camper’s guardians. Under NO circumstance will campers be allowed to hold medication on them during the day. If your child falls ill during camp and/or suffers an injury and reports to the health office, the camp health director will be in contact with parents/guardians. J. Drop Off & Pick Up - Elmsford Camp does not provide any bus transportation to and from camp. Drop-off and pick-up will take place in the circle between the Grady and Hamilton schools. Counselors will meet campers outside of their cars at drop off and will assist in putting them into their cars at dismissal. K.Lunch/Snack – For Camp Teen Elite, the campers will be given lunch every day. This is part of your camp tuition. The exact lunch options will vary from trip to trip. When the children are not on a trip, they will select a sandwich choice or sometimes there will be pizza or other options. If your child wishes to bring a snack or bagged lunch, they may do so, on the trips or camp days where there are no limits provided by the trip destination (Some trip destinations do not allow outside food). If your child has allergies, please let the camp directors know ahead of time, so we can see what needs to happen. More detail will be provided on what the children will be served when the trip schedule for this year is finalized. L. Swimming - Campers will swim at various pools throughout the county, along with Glen Island Beach in New Rochelle throughout the camp season. Elmsford Day Camp provides their own certified lifeguards and water safety instructors, and abides by the NY Board of Health Guidelines M. Trips: This is a trip/travel camp. They will go on trips almost every day. An exact schedule, list of trip descriptions/locations and a calendar will be available prior to the start of camp. Typical trip destinations include water parks, amusement parks, ball games, museums, bowling, arcades, shows and more. N. Rainy Days – The camp prepares several rainy day schedules in anticipation of rainy, or cold weather, so that the campers are dry, safe and still having fun. On swim days, alternate destinations will be in effect, such as bowling, arcades and/or the movie theater. O. What makes this Camp ‘Elite’ ? In addition to the amazing experiences that the campers get to partake in, such as going to museums, adventure parks and the like, the counselors also facilitate a great deal of leadership, growth and team building activities throughout the season. Campers will leave the season with new friends, new skills and newfound feelings of empowerment and self-confidence.
