About the project
Youth exchange: "In their shoes: Understanding disability"
Malaga, Spain
15-22 October 2016
Leisure is a really important part of everyone’s life, including people who face any kind
of disability. It affects our health directly as it helps us keep balance in our life.
However, this aspect is often forgotten when approaching disable people inclusion in
social life.
Considering that, the aim of this youth exchange is to sensitize young people about
disability and make them aware of the barriers that people with disabilities face in
their leisure time. This youth exchange will gather 30 youngsters from 5 different
countries (Spain, Lithuania, Croatia, Italy and Greece) that will have the chance to
discover ways to improve inclusion of people with disabilities in the society.
During the youth exchange we will develop activities that will make it possible to:
- Share information about the reality of disable people in each country involved.
- Put ourselves in their shoes.
- Learn all together how to include them in leisure activities.
- Find out solutions and good practices related to removing barriers and
improving their integration.
- Develop participant’s social skills using non-formal education.
- Encourage intercultural learning.
- Inspire youngsters to take actions.
Who can participate?
For this activity, 4 participants (2 male and 2 female preferably) aged 18 to 30 years
old and a group leader (aged 18+) will be selected from each country. The youngsters
should be interested in, or in some way related with, the field of disability, willing to
participate and highly motivated in the subject of the project. If you want to

the same name, is the fifth most
populated city in Spain. It is
located in the south of the Iberian
Peninsula, in a privileged spot. The
city covers 398.25Km2 and has a
population of almost 568,000

the city which are given by Malaga’s provincial government to social projects related to
youth.

La Noria is a lovely location surrounded by green gardens in a protected environment.
Around La Noria you can find all what you need: a supermarket, a tobacco shop, a

How to arrive here
The Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport (IATA: AGP, ICAO: LEMG) is one of the most
important in Spain and has connections to major cities worldwide and is located just
11’5km from the city's Historic Quarter. To get to the city center you can either take
the bus or the train
Bus: There is a bus station located underground at the airport. It can be reached from
the arrivals level of the transportation hub or from arrivals in terminal 3, which can be
accessed from all terminals. There is also a bus stop outside the cargo terminal. Buses
to Malaga depart from a stop outside the arrivals hall half-hourly (6.30am to 11.30pm).
Train: The airport has opened an underground station for Cercanías Málaga commuter
trains, connecting it with Málaga and providing this way better communications with
the city center. Málaga's new suburban train line has opened, providing access from
the arrivals area of terminal 3. Trains run every 20 minutes between Málaga City and
Fuengirola via Málaga Airport.
Anyway, if it’s better for you, it’s possible to fly to Madrid’s or Sevilla’s airport and then
take a bus or train to Málaga.
Weather
October is typically a transitional month in Malaga, as the summer heat and drought
gradually gives way to relatively changeable conditions. Temperatures typically fall as
the month progresses but remain on the warm side, with an average daytime
maximum temperature of 24°C and an average overnight minimum of 14°C
