A YMCA volunteer since 1999, Mr Chew is a member of the National Council of YMCAs of
Singapore and serves on the board and committee of the National Council of Social Service and
Community Chest, respectively.
SINGAPORE: The Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) of Singapore announced on Friday
(Jun 19) that it elected a new president, Mr Chew Kwee San, following its Annual General Meeting
on May 28.
In a press release, YMCA said Mr Chew “brings with him a wealth of experience from both the
corporate and social service sectors”.
Mr Chew, 46, has been a YMCA volunteer since 1999 and is currently a member of the National
Council of YMCAs of Singapore. Mr Chew also serves on the board of the National Council of Social
Service and is one of the three vicechairmen on the Community Chest Committee.
In addition, Mr Chew is executive director of The Tecity Group of companies and a council member
of both the Tan Chin Tuan Foundation in Singapore, as well as the Tan Sri Tan Foundation in
Malaysia.
Said Mr Chew: “I look forward to working closely with the YMCA Board and management team in
driving YMCA towards developing the ‘heartware’ for Singapore through its programme and service
infrastructure, building a resilient and caring society through sustainable community engagement
programmes and nurturing socially responsible community champions.”
“This includes engaging youth in programmes that provide opportunities for them to be attuned to the
needs of the community, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to serve with excellence
through structured training and development programmes, and providing them with the platforms to
step up and lead their peers and other likeminded youths in making a positive difference in the
community."
