Nana`s Jumble

Nana’s Jumble
One Nan’s Jumble is another Nan’s Treasure
Information for programmers
Nana’s Jumble is an immersive storytelling performance and social event for children, young people and their
families. There’s tea and squash, there are puppets that come to life from the mountain of jumble, the little ones can
do some drawing, and there’s even a tombola! But the best thing about this jumble sale are Nana’s amazing stories
from her travels around the world…
Nana is having a jumble sale before reluctantly downsizing to a one bedroom flat. Her granddaughter, Josie, is there
too, but is in a very bad mood. She would rather be out with her friends rather than stuck with her old Nan. Forced
together they share their stories and discover that, with one another by their sides, their lives will never be boring
again.
Nana’s Jumble celebrates the beautiful and hilarious intergenerational relationships we share with our
grandparents. Like most grandparents Nana tells a good tale - sometimes her stories are naughty, sometimes tearful,
but they’re always guaranteed to be quirky. Like any jumble sale, we can pitch up anywhere - In a community centre,
theatre foyer, or in our marquee in your park! Where ever this jumble sale takes place, Nana makes everyone feel
welcome, included and a part of her Jumble sale of stories.
“Age is only a number. We can all be young at heart!”

About Kazzum
We’re about theatre – the theatrical experience – which we believe works as well in a festival field as on a traditional
stage. In a classroom as well as in a car park. So we approach theatre-making in different ways, and chances are
there’ll be an approach to fit your needs.
We don’t do traditional shows or have audiences sitting in rows in a theatre. We DO have them move around, get
involved and be part of the action. We create all our shows from scratch, working with the best professionals, often
from outside children’s arts. So our offer is always fresh, playful and unexpected, bringing children and young people
to new ways of understanding and exploring the world around them. We want our theatre to be as dynamic as the
world in which young people live.
We’re quietly inclusive: it’s in our being. Artistic Director Daryl Beeton is a cultural leader in youth arts participation
and a high profile advocate for disabled artists. Associate Director, Nicola Miles-Wildin, who makes her directorial
debut with Nana’s Jumble, is a well-known disabled actress, best known for starring as ‘Miranda’ in the Paralympic
Opening Ceremony, alongside Sir Ian McKellen.
We think you’ll find that we’re not just the best, but (so far) the only professional theatre company in the UK purely
focusing on outdoor and site-specific work for children and young people.
