The First Snowfall The first snowfall hasn’t come soon enough. And without that first snow day the going gets tough! In fields and forest, city and street, On this cold winter’s night, we need lots of heat! No snow, no snow, no snow, no snow! It’s just not winter until there is snow. We raised our eyes, and we saw a great cloud Sitting there in the east, so big and so proud. And to the earth giant snowflakes should fly, But the sun is still shining. Oh me and oh my! No snow, no snow, no snow, no snow! It’s just not winter until there is snow. No snow, no snow, no snow, no snow! It’s just not winter until there is snow. They Test You, Merry Gentlemen They test you, merry gentlemen and maids upon this day; to see what you have learned before it’s time to go away. In Math and Science, English, too, the teachers always say, “No vacation until the final day, very last day. We will work right up until the final day!” I guess they need to see if we have learned what they taught. But all I’ve learned today is what it means to be distraught! With final tests in every class I’m truly overwrought. “No vacation until the final day, very last day. We will work right up until the final day!” Ugh! Our Good Principal Looked Out Our good principal looked out, her last name is Stevens. See the snow is falling ‘bout deep and crisp and even. Maybe she will send us home, if it keeps on snowing. Seems I just can’t concentrate when the wind is blowing. *solos* Bring me shovels, bring me plows, bring me salt to throw there. See if streets are safe enough for the kids to go there. If the buses slip and slide, that could mean real trouble. Call the State Police and then, call me on the double! Yes, the sky is darker now, and the wind blows stronger. “Send them home” good Stevens said, “They should stay no longer.” Off we go into the cold, bundled up so tightly. Yo! We missed a half-a-day. What we wish for nightly! Our good principal looked out, our good principal looked out. Our good principal looked out! Clean the Halls Clean the halls and wash the blackboard; Fa la la la la la la la la. We’ll be gone and won’t look backward; Fa la la la la la la la la. Lock the doors so no one peeks; Fa la la la la la la la la. We’ll be gone for two whole weeks; Fa la la la la la la la la. See the long days stretch before us; Fa la la la la la la la la. No more his-t’ry, gym or chorus; Fa la la la la la la la la. Winter break is so much fun; Fa la la la la la la la la. Lazy days for ev’ry one; Fa la la la la la la la la. Fa la la la la la la la la. Why Can’t You Just Sit Still? “Still, still, still. Why can’t you just sit still?” That’s what my mother said during dinner. “Or else,” She said, “You’ll be getting thinner!” “Still, still, still. Why can’t you just sit still?” Sleep, sleep, sleep. How can I even think of sleep? When Santa is headed in this direction, And my whole year is up for inspection. Sleep, sleep, sleep. How can I even think of sleep? Joy to the World, My Shopping’s Done Joy to the world, my shopping’s done, with just an hour to spare! There’s perfume for my mother, A neck-tie for my father. Didn’t think I had a prayer. Didn’t think I had a prayer. Didn’t think I could finish with an hour to spare! Joy to the world, my shopping’s done, with just a dime to spare! A bathrobe for my brother, A bracelet for my sister. Didn’t think I had a prayer. Didn’t think I had a prayer. Didn’t think I could finish with a dime to spare! Joy to the world, my shopping’s done!
