I want to congratulate James Bennett, our Assistant Golf Professional for the past two seasons on
his new position as Golf Services Manager at Candlestone Golf and Resort in Belding,
Michigan. We wish him all the best in his new position. James will continue conducting private
lessons at Meridian Sun when his schedule permits.
This is the first of our monthly newsletters for this season. Our goal is to bring the "Sun" to you
and and let you know what's happening in golf, not only here but around the area as well. In this
month's edition you will read about some fun events coming up in April along with our terrific
array of junior golf programs and adult learning programs.
The Master's Tournament is my favorite to watch and it seems to kick off the golf season for many
of us each year. We invite you to join us for a fun season opening event on Master's Sunday, April
9th. In honor of the Master's unique par 3 event, we are holding a Master's Par Three
Scramble. Two person teams can choose between playing 9 or 18 holes. Every hole will be set up as
a par 3, ranging in length from 90 to 175 yards for men and 75 to 135 yards for women. Starting
times will begin at 11am for 18 hole teams and 1pm for 9 hole teams. Closest to the Hole contest
every hole!
Hang around after golf and enjoy drink specials and complimentary appetizers as we watch The
Masters Final Round. Entry Fee $60/team for 18 holes, $50/team for nine holes. Entry includes
golf, cart, prizes and appetizers.
Fitness for Golf
Get ready for the season with a one hour fitness for golf workshop provided by our Teaching Professional,
Stephanie Wagemann. Stephanie earned her degree in Kinesiology from University of Illinois and is a
Certified Personal Trainer as well as a golf professional. This workshop will be filled with stretching and
fitness exercises to improve your body's ability to swing the club efficiently and to avoid injury this
season. Come dressed in comfortable clothing and be ready to move! Fee is $10 and includes a
GolferAid Beverage and some healthy snacks afterward.
Senior Scramble
First Senior Scramble of the Season. Three player teams flighted by total age of the team. Entry Fee $99
includes golf, cart, range balls, prizes, coffee and muffins before golf and a light lunch afterward Members
receive an $8.00 discount per player. Sign up by calling 339-8281.
Meridian Sun Spring Open House
Mark you calendar and plan to join us for our Spring Open House. This is a time to meet our staff and
learn about memberships, leagues, activities and learning opportunities at the course. Ask questions and
hear about what's happening at Meridian Sun this season. From noon to 4pm we will be offering
complimentary club evaluations and club fittings, special pricing on club re-gripping and complimentary
snacks and soft drinks. Play golf for only $15 for nine holes with cart and $20 for 18 holes with
cart. Receive a FREE Meridian Sun Logo Golf Ball with your golf fee.
Youth Golf

Our Junior Golf Registration is open with a great slate of programs for every level of youth golfer. From
our Tee of Toddlers (3-6 year olds) to our popular clinics and leagues to our new Meridian Sun Junior
Academy, you can choose a program that is right for the young golfer in your family.
We emphasize fun and safety first and create an inspiring environment for your child to learn the shots,
etiquette and life skills associated with playing golf. We challenge all of our junior to become better
golfers, but also to become good friends and helpful teammates.

Meridian Sun Junior Golf
New Meridian Sun Junior Golf Academy
The Meridian Sun Junior Golf Academy is a long term development program using the Operation 36
platform. This is a national program designed to teach junior golfers ages 3 & up to shoot 36 (Par) for
nine holes. The academy classes use the Operation 36 curriculum and are taught by Op 36 Certified
Instructors, Bill Mory, PGA and Stephanie Wagemann. To learn more about this exciting new
program, come to our Academy Orientation on Thursday, April 20th at 6:00pm. We are very
excited to bring this program to Meridian Sun. The following video link will give you a brief overview of

For those who have not heard of PGA Junior League Golf, I want to explain what a terrific program this is
for your child or grandchild. PGA JLG is a little league atmosphere where teams play one another in a
scramble format.
Each team is comprised of 10-12 players ages 7-13 who compete together in four player matches. All
players receive a jersey, bag tag and golf balls for the matches. Teams practice weekly with a coach and
the help of parent volunteers.
We invite you to join one of our PGA Junior League teams and to volunteer to assist with practices or
matches. No golf experience is to help and the teams will be made up of juniors with varying skills from
beginner to experienced.
The past two seasons we have hosted two teams. This year, our goal is to have up to four teams. To learn
