MURAL FESTIVAL INSTALLATION TO
SHOWCASE MONTREAL’S PLASTIC WASTE
SodaStream shares its vision of a sparkling Montreal,
free from disposable bottles and cans
Montreal,QC, June 8, 2016 – Every weekend throngs of people flock to Montreal for its famous summer
festivals, but what’s often left behind when the crowds disperse is a lot of waste. With more than 1
million expected to be in attendance at festivals across the city this weekend, SodaStream is asking
Montrealers to help keep the city beautiful by eliminating disposable bottles and cans.
SodaStream is collaborating with the MURAL Festival and A-Shop on June 10th and 11th to install a giant
recycling container, alongside artwork created by renowned graffiti and environmentally conscious artist
Doryan Rabilloud (Dodo), to illustrate the beauty of a Montreal without unnecessary plastic. The
installation will grow and its message will become clear as visitors to the festival contribute their own
empty bottles and cans.
“At MURAL Festival, we are celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Montreal with SodaStream’s artistic
vision of how we can collectively keep this city sparkling and beautiful,” said Rena Nickerson,
SodaStream Canada Country Manager. “Each year, a Canadian family of four disposes of approximately
1,295 bottles and cans. With a SodaStream Sparkling Water Maker, residents can confidently eliminate
this unnecessary waste.”
Visitors to the MURAL Festival can find SodaStream’s installation at
Boulevard Saint-Laurent and Avenue Pins,
Friday June 10th and Saturday June 11th, from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
"The MURAL Festival is, above all, a community event,” said Saraid Wilson, General Manager of LNDMRK
Inc., producers of the MURAL Festival. “We are proud to have SodaStream on site to help us keep our
footprint on Montreal light. We believe in this city and in keeping it clean."
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Born in the prestigious city of Lyons, Dodo was introduced to art from his young age. After completing a
Bachelor of Fine Arts Cannes, he decided to redirect the urban style of his youth to traditional painting.
Drawing on various influences from the academia, he perfected his work and has exhibited in galleries at
Cannes. After reaching its objectives in his hometown, his thirst for knowledge and experiences have led
him to move to Montreal. Driven by the creative atmosphere of the city, he returns to his roots perfects
his personal style. Playing with symbolism and universal archetypes, he concocts dreamlike and surreal
landscapes merging the figurative to the imagination. Seeking to transmit abstract feelings dancing
behind our eyelids, his work reflects Jungian power of poetry and fantasy.
