Service Availability Manager (SAM) Fault monitoring across large IT infrastructures enables organisations to prevent business disruptions, protect revenue-generating applications and honour Service Level Agreements. Various products available are able to monitor application, server and network faults, but require expensive manual sifting or vast amounts of configuration, to correlate results. SAM is the only product that not only correlates application faults, not only correlates server faults and not only correlates network faults. SAM automatically integrates all these and correlates faults across the entire IT infrastructure. SAM is an End-to-End, single application, test driven, service testing technology. • IPSLA/Remote ping management: configures tests and retrieves test results from devices that support IPSLA (SAA) or the RemotePing mib. • Service Impact Analysis: performs impact analysis of tests to Services • Reporting Engine: define custom reports and make them available through web portal or launch them from the SAM GUI. • Customer Portal: gives you customer access to reports and status information for the services you manage or supply to them. • Message forwarding: (SNMP Traps / email / HTTP post (for SMS,MMS messaging) / Custom script (for TT integration). • Automatic event correlation SAM can be purchased either as a stand-alone system, directly polling your devices, or you can buy it to sit on top of your existing infrastructure, where it automatically correlates messages from different systems. Or if CAPEX is an issue, we can interrogate existing messages using SAM’s unique functionality, as a consultancy service. • Role based access: (Administrator, Configurator, Operator and User) Core Features: • Define operational procedures for each component error condition • Network Discovery: discovers network • High performance SNMP polling engine: performs a full network status poll in less than 30 seconds. • Launches actions automatically • Operator ability to launch predefined actions from the UI in a controlled manner • Routing Protocol monitoring: monitors OSPF, BGP and MPLS Tunnels • Server probe: (logfile analysis, server process monitoring) provides local and remote operation, is aware of the server performance and network parameters • Server Monitoring: monitors core server components. • Root cause identification: (includes network devices, servers, application and database) • Application Monitoring: monitors applications running on servers. • SNMP Trap receiver: (able to receive SNMP traps and map to an impact code upon a component) devices and their configuration • Distributed Testing: tests if applications are available across the network. • Netflow Collector: gather usage information of which network access points are being used to access services. • Integrated reporting/customer dashboards • Flexible SLA calculation engine. SAM provides inter-related component failure data, unavailable with other Helpdesk/CMDB products, understands component dependencies and enables comprehensive diagnostic, real-time capability beyond simple Up/Down status, houses built in correlation of both Remote and Local test alarm results and the Topology engine identifies the impact of Network faults upon services. Message Browser Used to facilitate communication between SAM users. Messages can be owned by an operator communicating who has taken responsibility for the incidents represented by messages in the browser. Annotations can be added to messages improving communication between stake holders. SLA View Calculates SLA metrics and service credits, in real-time, providing critical business controls. Component Status Table A filterable table displaying the state of Components. More efficient than the traditional alarm browser. This table can be configured to only show components that are not in a normal state.SAM state based model e.g. Up, DegradedResisilance, DegradedAvailability etc. They convey the true state of a component as opposed to traditional methods of displaying severities e.g. Critical, Major, Minor, Warning and Normal. Vale Technology Limited, Ardol House, Hazel Road, Ash Green, Hampshire GU12 6HP Telephone 01 252 336114 E-mail: [email protected] Service Map Enables operators to pinpoint the root cause of a service disruption and how a failed test or component impacts on business services. MPLS Tunnel Enables operators to analyse the state of MPLS tunnels. Unlike MPLS engineering applications SAM is able to display a full end-to-end network path, including devices either side of the MPLS tunnel. Network Path When remote tests generate failures, operators can easily identify the real-time network path in use, as opposed to a base path which is the limitation of the current network management market offerings.
