12th Grade Summer Reading 2016 PART ONE: TWO ANNOTATIONS SHEETS You are required to read and annotate both Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K. Dick and Cat’s Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut. Reading your summer texts everyday for around 20-30 minutes per day will help you stay on track to finishing. Annotating is a skill that requires you to think critically about what you are reading, and will help you prepare for your essay. As you read each novel, focus on how the characters interact and deal with technology and science. I will collect an annotations sheet for each novel. You must record at least 5 CDs and 5 reflective CMs for each book, for a total of 10 annotations. These annotations will be helpful as you may use them in your essay, which is Part Two of the summer reading assignment. Fill out the sheets attached on the next two pages for your annotations (one for each book): Cat’s Cradle Topic Character using technology Character using technology Opinion on technology and/or science’s role in society Opinion on technology and/or science’s role in society Quote on science and/or technology Quote on science and/or technology Quote and page # Analysis Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
