Dinosaur Hall High School Biology Mini

Dinosaur Hall High School Biology Mini‐Lesson Dinosaur Evolution Teacher Page Objective Students can easily fill out the tree map organizing the adaptation, survival and habitats of dinosaurs. An extension idea would be to have students compare habitats to adaptations. Subject: Biology California State Standard: Evolution is the result of genetic changes that occur in constantly changing environments. As a basis for understanding this concept: a. Students know how natural selection determines the differential survival of groups of organisms. b. Students know a great diversity of species increases the chance that at least some organisms survive major changes in the environment. e. Students know how to analyze fossil evidence with regard to biological diversity, episodic speciation, and mass extinction. Navigating the Hall This activity should take students throughout the hall looking at all dinosaurs. Dinosaur Evolution through Adaption Activity: Explore the dinosaurs in the Hall and complete the Tree Map Below. You can use facts listed on exhibits, as well as inferences you make from the exhibits themselves (ex: a dinosaur with two legs, running on flat land can hunt more effectively…) Dinosaur Adaptations Physical Characteristics Behavioral Characteristics __________________________ __________________________ Habitats _____________________________________ _____________________ _____________________________________ _____________________ _____________________________________ _____________________ _____________________________________ _____________________ _____________________________________ _____________________ _____________________________________ _____________________ _____________________________________ _____________________ __________________________ __________________________ __________________________ __________________________ __________________________
