SUPERHERO WALL
AND HEROIC FAMILY FUN AT THE PLAYHOUSE, SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 25TH 11-4PM.
1. Grab hold of your superhero business teams, friends and family: Get wildly collaborative
together and build this sneaky piece of inspirational community wall art for the wildly creative
kids’ superhero wall. Paint, glue, nail, screw, laser and kryptonite your favourite superhero
figurines to the planks provided. Add some artistic tension by adding the arch nemesis of your
superhero or heroine! Write the names of your favourite people superheroes on the plank, like
family or friends or special people in the community, or add some funky props or wild
background colour/effects.
2. The Playhouse will provide the planks as your epic palette of creativity: So grab your
superheroes, get to the Playhouse, make a plank donation for Starship Foundation and get artplanking with your fave creative crew. Planks can also be purchased from Bunnings Warehouse
(Google Maps:Bunnings Warehouse), if you want to let your creative kryptonite loose at home.
Bring your wild art super plank out to the Playhouse on or before September 25th. Local groups,
businesses and teams who want to do a team superheroine/hero plank can also head to the
Playhouse or contact Nickola Blunt, WASA! ® to organise a heroic team planking session. We at
WASA!® understand it takes courage to let your inner artist sneak out. Remember, it’s not about
being perfect, it’s about having fun unleashing your creative superhero!.
3. You will need: a plank, superhero figurines, permanent marker pens or paint and glue. The
Bunnings Warehouse Plank stock no is 00648824. It is fence paling h3.2, 1.8M long, 15.5cm
wide x 1.9cm thick, currently $2.81 per plank. Use Weldbond glue from isle 16 at Bunnings
Warehouse in Nelson. Superheroes can be found in the toy section of the Nelson Environment
Centre Re Use Shop or Trademe if you don’t have your own private collection!. Measure/mark
off 8cm spaces on the plank at 5-13 cm, 85-93cm and 161-169cm, keep these spaces clear of
art work to allow for bolting onto the wall.
4. If you are from outside the region and would like to get involved: Send your superhero
figurines with your name, phone, contact details and a donation to:

5. Donations will be welcomed for each plank. Donations go to Starship Foundation which raises
funds for Starship children’s Hospital. You can donate as little or as much as you want towards
each plank, as a business, group or individual, to the Playhouse Café.
