Last summer, your YMCA staff leadership team met to create a sentence
that accurately describes our culture or, in short, explains why we do what
we do. Here’s what they came up with:
“We are a family of Christian servants working to make our communities
better”
So, it all boils down to just 3 key words - Faith, Family and Community.
Those three priorities are, in that order, the things that motivate us all.
Propelled by more than 900 volunteers working over 10,000 hours, much
was accomplished last year. We surveyed our community and received over
500 responses to help your YMCA move very deliberately into the future.
Ground was broken for Share the Harvest Community Farm, which will help
to diminish hunger and poor nutrition in food deserts and for our
underprivileged brother and sisters. We were able to give away over
$350,000 in scholarships to people who could not otherwise join us at the Y or in Y-sponsored
activities like youth sports. And you contributed a record $182,953 through the Annual Support
Campaign, making those scholarship dollars stretch even further.
2016 will present its own set of challenges and opportunities. We ask for your prayers, your volunteer
commitment and your faithful financial support to get the job done. Together, we are doing great things!
Blessings,
BILL
