It was a non-issue as the boat was being towed on the lake. 10 Kent Harrison and 10 Chilliwack SAR members responded to search for any possible vehicle occupants on the Fraser River under the Agassiz Rosedale Bridge. SAR was stood down when it was determined to be a vehicle that was checked previously. 1 member of PEP Air responded to a JRCC request to assist with locating an ELT sounding in the vicinity of the Campbell River Dump. PEP Air was stood down when ELT ceased sounding. 3 Terrace SAR members responded to an RCMP request to rescue an injured skier in the back-country around Shanes Mountain. The patient was handed off to BC Ambulance. 13 Powell River SAR members responded to 2 stranded snowshoers at Tin Hat in Powell River. The subjects were located and transported to Powell River in good health. 16 Alberni Valley Rescue Squad members responded to an RCMP request to assist with the locating 2 stranded motorists on the back roads NE of Port Alberni. The motorists were located in good condition and escorted out of the area. 1 Cowichan Valley SAR member responded to an RCMP request to assist with the location of 2 stranded motorists near Shawnigan Lake. SAR was stood down when the people were rescued by police. 4 Golden SAR members responded to a BCAS request for SAR assistance for a female hiker with a possible broken leg at the Bill Putnam Hut. The patient was rescued by SAR members and flown out to safety. 16 North Shore Rescue members responded to an RCMP request to search for a skier that had gone out of bounds on Grouse Mountain. The subject was retrieved in good condition. 20 Powell River SAR members responded to an RCMP request to search for a 10-year-old boy in Lund. The boy was found as the SAR team arrived on scene. 13 Kent/Harrison SAR members responded to an RCMP request to locate and transport 4 subjects from Port Douglas at the top end of Harrison Lake, back to Harrison Hot Springs. All subjects retrieved without injuries 7 Whistler SAR members responded to a BCAS request for SAR assistance for a man who had taken a 60-70 foot fall in Brandywine Bowl. The female hiker was able to walk out with assistance from SAR and passed to BCAS for assessment. 4 Revelstoke SAR members responded to locate an injured snowmobiler in the Craigellachie area near Revelstoke. The SAR was stood down when a group of sledders came across the subject and assisted with self rescue. 1 Revelstoke SAR member responded to an RCMP request to locate and assist 9 snowmobilers in the Frisbee Mountain area near Revelstoke. Team was stood down by RCMP after the subjects made it safely on their own. 16 Kimberley SAR members responded to an RCMP request to locate and transport a missing hiker near Kimberley. Team was able to locate the subject alive and well and escort safely from the area, tasking is concluded at this time. 7 Vernon SAR members responded to RCMP request to search around an MVI that had occurred earlier in the day east of Cherryville on Highway 6 East. No occupant was located and it is suspected they may have managed to exit the vehicle on their own. 10 North Shore Rescue members responded to BCAS request for an unconscious hiker believed to have suffered an asthma attack while hiking on Dam Mountain Trail near the top of the Grouse Grind. SAR was stood down by BCAS as they were able to access patient without SAR assistance. 12 Quesnel SAR members responded to investigate a spot beacon that was initiated by forestry workers in the Quesnel area. The three workers were located by a staff member of the Batnuni Resort and transported back to the Resort. They had activated the beacon after one of the workers had become hypothermic. 1 Golden SAR member was contacted regarding an abandoned car at the Kicking Horse Ski Resort. SAR was stood down when the subject was located staying in a nearby rental house. 12 Fernie SAR members responded to search for two missing skiers in the back-country near the Fernie Alpine Resort. Their tracks were spotted by SAR from a helicopter and they were located in a snow cave where they had sought refuge. They were airlifted out. 8 Hope SAR and 12 Chilliwack SAR members responded to a skier with a lower leg injury below Zoa Peak. The skier was rescued and brought out of the area, and then refused medical treatment for the injury. 8 Revelstoke SAR member responded following a SPOT beacon activation in the Crazy Creek area near Revelstoke. Mutual aid was requested from the Chilliwack swiftwater team but they were stood down prior to responding when Hope SAR advised they were on scene and they had the vehicle occupant on shore. The subject was transferred to BCAS. 10 Shuswap members responded to search for a lost snowmobiler on Eagles Mountain. SAR was stood down when it was determined that this incident was related to SAR 161621. 3 Revelstoke SAR members responded to search for a missing skier on Revelstoke Mountain. The subject was picked up at the side of the road by SAR. 4 Revelstoke SAR members responded to search for two lost sledders on Frisbee Mountain. The SAR was concluded when the subjects were assisted out of the area by Glacier Mountain Sledding. One Pemberton SAR member was called out to assist with the rescue two injured snowmobilers up Mackenzie FSR outside of Pemberton. SAR was stood down as the patients were retrieved by BCAS. 12 Surrey SAR members responded to search for a missing despondent female in the Fleetwood area of Surrey. SAR was stood down when the subject was located by police. 9 South Cariboo SAR members responded to search for two overdue sledders in the MIca Mountain area near 100 Mile House. SAR located both subjects and extracted them safely. 8 Nanaimo SAR members responded to search for a male missing in the area of Jinglepot Road and Wellington Road. SAR was stood down when the RCMP located the subject. 7 Wells Gray and 7 Vernon SAR members responded to rescue an injured snowmobiler with a fractured leg in the Blue River area. The subject was successfully extracted via winch, and was flown to Kamloops Hospital. 15 Vernon SAR members responded to rescue an injured snowmobiler in Hunter's Range. The subject was successfully transferred to BCAS. 5 Golden SAR members responded to a confirmed avalanche to locate a missing person in the Terminator 3 Range. SAR was stood down as the subject was located by their companion. 11 Bulkley Valley SAR members responded to search for a missing snowboarder and snowmobiler off Coalmine Road in Telkwa. The subject was recovered in good condition. 8 Revelstoke SAR members responded to locate and transport 2 missing snowmobilers on Boulder Mountain, near Revelstoke. Both skiers were rescued by SAR. ELT - 1 74 93 ELT - 40 WEEKLY INCIDENT REPORT 6 – 12 Mar 2017 DANGEROUS GOODS On 10 Mar 17, a report was received concerning a spill of fuel from a storage tank at the Port Harvey Marina on East Cracroft Island. The incident was upgraded to Code 2 (urgent status) by the Ministry of Environment Response Officer due to the spills proximity to vital First Nations’ clam beds. MISCELLANEOUS On 08 Mar 17, Kamloops opened their EOC to manage complications due to a power outage that resulted in a loss of potable water to the city.
