Generali Worldwide and the Guernsey Sports Commission’s
Get Active Fortnight is back for 2014

Get Active fortnight returns from May 30 with even more free activities on offer. With over 35
different activities with more than 90 sessions on offer, all activities are free of charge and are
offered as taster sessions – making them accessible and suitable for everyone, whatever their
level of fitness.
The initiative, which is organised by the GSC and sponsored by Generali Worldwide, encourages
hundreds of islanders to try a new sport or physical activity and this year’s programme looks set to
be even more varied. New sports on offer this year include: Family Football, Tri Fitness, Kings
Outdoor Active, Zumba Step, Chi Running, Trampolining, Weight Training, Zumba Aqua, Sitting
Volleyball, Disability Racketball, Triathlon and Rowing.
“The team has worked hard to develop a programme for 2014 that gives men, women and
children of all ages a great choice of activities to try. We are confident that there is something for
everyone,” says Ian Robinson, Head of Corporate Business, Generali Worldwide.
The Guernsey Sports Commission has partnered with a number of local sports clubs and
organisations to offer the free taster sessions. These will include:

Finding and booking an activity is easy. Islanders can pick up a Get Active Fortnight brochure
from the Guernsey Sports Commission Offices and at various locations around the island or the
schedule is available on the Sports Commission website (www.guernseysports.com).
“We’re delighted to bring back this popular fortnight,” says Jenny Murphy, Sports Development
Officer at the Guernsey Sports Commission. “It fits in with the Commission’s overall aim of
supporting and encouraging everyone to participate in sport and physical activity. It’s all about
having fun and finding ways to keep active on a regular basis.”
