Says Ms Tresnawati Prihadi, General Manager of SPM, “The magic of collecting touches everyone – from the collector to the admirer. There is delight and joy when you acquire something you love, and share your collection and experience with others. ‘Collecting Magic: From Stamps To Wands’ honours this tradition of collecting, particularly in the area of philately. Postage stamps, alongside community contributed collectibles, help make the Harry Potter experience more tangible and real for visitors.” Around the world, children and adults have been captivated by the magic of Harry Potter. Released from 1997 to 2007, it is the best-selling book series for children with over 450 million copies sold to date. The books have been adapted into feature films, role-playing games, and even theme parks. Philatelic keepsakes such as Harry Potter-themed stamps that show characters and movie scenes have also been issued by many countries. This year, there has been a resurgence of Pottermania with the launch of the play, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” in London, and the highly2 anticipated film “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”, which will be released in November 2016. “Collecting Magic: From Stamps to Wands” runs at SPM from 2 November 2016 to June 2017.
