The following recommendations regarding the uniform measurement of the volume flow of small-piston
compressors have been established to facilitate the comparability of information given by manufacturers.
The statement “volume flow rate according to VDMA 4362” shall only be used if the volume flow rate has been
determined according to this specification and if the small-piston compressors under test comply with the
accident prevention regulations (in particular VBG 16 and VBG 17).

Scope
This specification applies to small-piston compressors with volume flow rates up to 2 m3/min and maximum
overpressures of 40 bar.
