Stage 3 water restrictions Stage 3 water restrictions apply Residential customers Gardens Can be watered using a hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle, bucket or watering can between 6am and 8am on alternate watering days. Dripper watering systems can be used to water gardens between 6am and 8am on alternate watering days. Alternate watering days Customers with even street numbers or no numbers can water their gardens on dates with even numbers (e.g. May 2, 4, 6). Customers with odd street numbers can water their gardens on dates with odd numbers (e.g. May 1, 3, 5). All customers can water their gardens on the 31st of each month. Lawns and grassed areas Must not be watered at any time. Pools and spas Pools and spas must not be filled. Pools can be topped up using a handheld hose fitted with a trigger nozzle, bucket, watering can or automatic top up system between 6am and 8am on alternate watering days, or as required in accordance with a Barwon Water approved Water Use Plan. Cars, boats and other vehicles Must not be washed at home with a hose or high-pressure cleaning device. However, a bucket filled directly from a tap can be used to clean windows, mirrors, lights, number plates and for spot removal of corrosive substances. Boat motors can be flushed using a container or flushing device fitted to a hose. Commercial car washes can still be used. Hard surfaces, paved areas, building façade and windows Must not be cleaned with water unless in case of emergency or where a health or safety hazard exists. A high-pressure water cleaner can be used for construction or renovation works. Water cannot be used to suppress dust unless the dust is causing or is likely to cause a health or environmental hazard. Fountains and water features Can operate provided water is recirculated, but must not be filled or topped up. Ponds or lakes Water cannot be used to fill or top up a new pond or lake, regardless of capacity, at any time. If an existing pond or lake sustains aquatic fauna and/or bird life, it can be filled or topped up in accordance with a Barwon Water approved Water Use Plan. Water toys Water toys that use a hose and running water must not be used at any time. Public customers Public lawns Must not be watered at any time. Public gardens Can be watered using a hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle, bucket or watering can between 6am and 8am on alternate watering days. Dripper watering systems can be used to water gardens between 6am and 8am on alternate watering days. Sportsgrounds Particular playing surfaces (including turf wickets, golf tees and greens, lawn tennis courts and bowling greens) can be watered with dripper watering systems between 6am and 8am on alternate watering days, or as required in accordance with a Barwon Water approved Water Use Plan. General playing surfaces (including sports ovals and golf courses, other than those listed above) must not be watered without a Barwon Water approved Water Use Plan. Ponds or lakes Water must not be used to fill or top up a new pond or lake, regardless of capacity, at any time. If an existing pond or lake sustains aquatic fauna and/or bird life, it can be filled or topped up in accordance with a Barwon Water approved Water Use Plan. Fountains and water features Can operate provided water is recirculated, but must not be filled or topped up. Municipal pool or spa Water can be used to fill a public pool or spa in accordance with a Barwon Water approved Water Use Plan. Public pools and spas can be topped up as required in accordance with a Barwon Water approved Water Use Plan. Rural customers Dams or tanks Must not be filled or topped up except if required for domestic purposes, fire fighting, stock watering, other public health purpose, or in accordance with a Barwon Water approved Water Use Plan. Commercial customers Commercial lawns Must not be watered at any time. Commercial gardens Can be watered using a hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle, bucket or watering can between 6am and 8am on alternate watering days. Dripper watering systems can be used to water gardens between 6am and 8am on alternate watering days. Commercial pools and spas Water cannot be used to fill a commercial pool or spa of any capacity. Commercial pools or spas can be topped up using a hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle, bucket, watering can or automatic top up system between 6am and 8am on alternate watering days. Commercial car washes Can operate if no more than 70 litres of water per car is used, or in accordance with a Barwon Water approved Water Use Plan. Motor vehicle dealers, repairers and detailers Vehicles can be washed at a commercial car wash or with a highpressure water cleaning device, bucket or watering can in accordance with a Barwon Water approved Water Use Plan. Mobile spas Water must not be used to fill or top up a mobile spa at any time. Water tankers Must not be filled or topped up except if required for domestic purposes, fire fighting, stock watering, other public health purpose, or in accordance with a Barwon Water approved Water Use Plan. Food transport vehicles The interior can be cleaned using a high-pressure water cleaning device or hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle, bucket or watering can if necessary to avoid contamination of the vehicle’s contents or to ensure public health or safety. Specific restrictions also apply to: • dust suppression • construction • animal husbandry • poultry farms. Breaches to Stage 3 water restrictions will incur fines. Commercial market gardens or plant nurseries Can be watered as required using a hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle, bucket or watering can, or in accordance with a Barwon Water approved Water Use Plan.
