Newsletter 11 December 2015 And a Happy New Year St Leonards Spectacular Nativity St Leonards School Hall played host to a galaxy of stars who entertained parents, staff and guests, including children from local Nursery Schools. The children from Years 1-3 dazzled as they performed a musical nativity play ‘The Bethlehem Star’. All the pupils were stars during their two performances and they certainly got the festive season of to a spectacular start. A very big well done to Years 1-3 and to Mrs Stewart for putting on such a wonderful production. Pantomime Time The whole school ventured out to see Cinderella at the Byre on Wednesday, ‘Oh yes they did’! Even though the day was as blustery as a Winnie the Pooh adventure, the pupils (and staff) all had a wonderful time. Mrs Turnbull was mentioned so often during the show she expected to appear on the billing. All the fun of the Christmas Fair There was a tombola, cake stalls, Guess the birthday of the animal stall, jewellery stall and raffles of every hue! As always the parents, pupils and staff of St Leonards Junior School came out in the most awful weather to raise money for charity. Thanks goes to the CAS students who organised the event, Mrs Pennycook who mentored them and to the wonderful St Leonards PA who gave up their time to help set up St Katharines Hall and provide delicious coffees, teas and treats. Sporting News St Leonards Swimmers Make a Splash Several of our talented swimmers attend Step Rock ASC and have been recording some amazing times. This week Rosemary Poe swam 975m (39 laps) in 30 minutes. Jack Gettinby-Anderson swam 875m (35 laps) in 35 minutes. Davie de Wolff has had an excellent season achieving, for his butterfly stroke, 1250m (50 laps) in 41.97 minutes. Both Davie and Rosemary have been nominated as best in their age group.
