Attendance Gains To Be Applauded
R.B. Wright Elementary earned the prestigious honor of having the
highest student attendance for the 2004-05 school year with 97.2%.
Willie J. Williams Middle received the award for greatest improvement in
student attendance. Student attendance at Williams Middle has increased
by 2.5% taking them from 92.9% in 2003-04 to 95.4% in 2004-2005.
Thanks to the efforts of teachers, parents, and school staff members,
student attendance over the three year period from 2002-03 to 2004-2005
has increased for all thirteen schools. For the school system to have a
2.2% increase over that time period is certainly significant and maybe
phenomenal. Translate that increase into students, and it means on any
given day in School Year 2004-05 about 176 more students (or eight
classrooms of students) were in attendance than in School year 2002-03.
