ROBIN HOOD ARMY
The Robin Hood Army is a volunteer based organisation that works to get surplus food
from restaurants to the less fortunate sections of society in cities across India and Pakistan.
Since its inception in August’14 the organisation has scaled to over 600 volunteers spread
across 14 cities, who distribute food to 4500-5000 people every night of distribution.
The volunteers are largely young working professionals from various fields.
The lesser fortunate sections who the organisation reaches out to include homeless families,
orphanages,night shelters, home for abandoned children, patients from public hospitals.
WHO WE ARE
• Hunger kills more people each year than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined.
• One in every eight people sleep hungry each night.
• 82% hungry people live in countries with food surpluses, not food shortages.
THE PROBLEM
• One-third of the food produced around the world is never consumed.
• Every 10 seconds, a child dies from hunger.
• 850 million hungry people in the world, 300 million of them are from India and Pakistan alone.
